You don't mention which model of Nextar MP3 player you have but most MP3 players are charged by connecting them to the USB port on your computer using the supplied programming cable. Actual charge time can vary depending on the player and may be as quick as 2 hours or as long as 8 hours. If the MP3 player in question has a battery indicator you can use that to gauge whether or not the unit is done charging.

You should try using a different USB cable and connecting to a different USB port and seeing if the problem persists. If it does, the problem's probably with the iPod's logic board.
