Hi are you running the unit through an amp if so then try switching the amp off then see if you get same noise as sometimes the feed back from the amp will cause this noise give this a try then let me know outcome ok speak soon

First of all sorry for the issue that you have. I believe you have some solutions to try. There is 2 possible cause, internal AUX preamplifier is faulty or external AUX connection acquires electromagnetic signals. USB connection wont be fact. But AUX connection (The stereo female input jack) or Kenwood disc Changer Connection might have unshielded spot on its cabling. Disconnect all the AUX cable and Kenwood disc changer connection (if you have). try to check again if problem still occurs. I will suggest you to check manual for the connections once more. I like to be realistic and give you most convenient solutions. I was determined when I post solution. You have clarified that there is no cause by AUX connections. So second option will be considerable which is contacting the hotline of the manufacturer. There are many way to troubleshoot but issue is more related to internal parts and AUX amplifier. Since you got it new why don't you contact kenwood. So they can provide you proper guidance for their own product. About modifying the connections; (adding on auxiliary parts) It might void your warranty I suggest talk to Kenwood first.

You need to look at the manufacture specs for the filters, they work in line but some are installed differently
look at this: this is usually what a filter does, but a cap is ~$1
Accessory pop is associated with one particular electrical event in the vehicle. This can be switching on your turn signal, headlights, brakes, windshield wipers or even the rear window defrost. These high current drawing accessories are causing a voltage spike that is traveling into your car audio equipment with the result being heard as a sharp pop. Adding a small bi-polar capacitor (0.47 uF) between the accessory's power wire and ground will often absorb these surges.

just a quick note: you mentioned that you had no noise problems with the OEM stereo (Blaupunkt) right?.
is it not possible your kenwood is the problem? assuming you where using the amps and such with the OEM too.

Thanks for the suggestions Aviorix. Let me add the following additional info:
First, I did the most obvious and rechecked my wiring, both with the manual that came with it and with the Bentley factory manual for this specific vehicle. All is in order.
Second, I don't have a changer connected to the HU. And I have the same problem whether I have anything connected to the AUX input or not. And what makes me think that it is not related to the AUX input, at least not the external connection, is that I have the most noise problems with the internal CD player switched on via the SRC button.
Any more ideas please?

Hello Headstrong, Thanks for the suggestion. However, exactly where would you suggest inserting the noise filter? I thought about a noise filter over the weekend, but couldn't convince myself that this would solve the problem as the noise did not seem to be associated with anything going on in the car outside of the functions of the HU. Though the ignition is turned on to "Accessory" to provide power to the unit I have had everything in the car turned off. And there was absolutely no noise problem with the OEM stereo (Blaupunkt) that was removed.

Hello Paul, Thanks for the response and suggestion. The installation is in a car with a factory Bose sound system. There is no practical way to bypass the amps (there are three of them) and go directly to the speakers. If I disconnected the amps there would be no sound (I assume even if I left the amps connected but disconnected the power to them). Am I understanding you correctly here?

Thanks to all of you that responded with suggestions. I think you have confirmed that the problem is most likely with the Kenwood itself. I didn't want to go through that whole process of removing the unit, sending it back for warranty repairs, waiting for weeks, etc. if I could solve the problem myself, even if it was of my own causing.
