Red light stays on after changing the water filter and running about 2 gallons through it

Check to be sure your water source is on. Low pressure may make the filter sensor think there is a plugged filter.

If you have an Ice Maker and/or Water Dispenser with this unit the red light is telling you the water filter is now time to change.

The filter is usually under the front refigerator (behing the bottom cover plate). The filter is about 8" long and 2" wide. Looks kinda like a big white hot dog bun. Remove the filter cover and spin the filter cartridge counter-clockwise and pull it out. A little water will leak but it'll close itself off as soon as it pulls out.
Reinstall the new filter the reverse sequence and run the ice water for 3 minutes or 3 to 5 gallons of water to get all the fatory carbon filter sediment flushed. The light will now turn to green.

Should be all better now.

Resetting your Refrigerator filter indicator light after changing your water filter

Some people are not aware that after you change your refrigerator water filter, there are two more steps that should be taken to complete the water filter change process.

Step 1:
Reset your water filter indicator light - Most new refrigerators come equiped with an indicator light that notifies you when it is time to change your water filter. This light does not automatically reset when you change your water filter. Here is a list of refrigerator manufacturers and how to reset the indicator light.

GE General Electric Refrigerators - Press and Hold the Reset Button for around 8 Seconds.

Step 2:
Flush a couple of gallons of water through your new filter. Since most refrigerator water filters are made of carbon, some carbon residue is present in the first gallon or two of water. This will leave a bitter taste and residue in your water. If you continue to have these problems after flushing a couple of gallons through the filter, it is possible that you have a defective water filter.

• After changing your water filter you have to reset the light for it to go off as it does not reset right away.

1. Just press and hold the "FIGHT" and "LOCK" buttons until the water filter light flashes. Now the light will be off.
2. Don't forget to run a couple gallons of water through the new filter to remove any carbon out of the incoming water after installing a new water filter. This is not poisonous by any mean but it can leave a bitter taste in your mouth until the carbon wears off.

of usage, or the filtering of 416 gallons of

water (whichever comes first), the CHANGE

FILTER indicator light will illuminate. This

indicates that the water filter should be

changed and the light reset.

To reset CHANGE FILTER light: Press and

hold the LIGHT and LOCK pads until the

CHANGE FILTER light blinks (approx. 3

seconds). The control is now reset for 12

months or another 416 gallons.

Note: The Water Filter Reminder will

operate if the filter bypass is in place.

you will wither have to push the light switch button 5 times or push and hold reset button or 2 at a time. Look at the display carefully it usually will tell you what you need to do

Afer you change the filter and have run the water for about 1 minute you then hold down the light & lock button together and this should turn the change filter light off.
