The back pressure valve has failed it costs about 15.00 and can buy from any truck parts store That's Peterbilt trucks or any large truck stores it's one of two sizes 1/2 inch or 3/4 inch when you pull it off be sure you know which way the air flow is or it will not build up.

Air compressor starts and builds air then idles and when it goes to rebuild air it dies

if your saying it wont recover from idle down mode back to full speed , this might be the IR fuel pump/regulator problem (a pressure gauge will need to be added to verify this ) , if so save your money go with an aftermarket pump it'll last longer

Air disc grinder will stop run after wheel grind touch the surface metal

You don't have enough air pressure. Let the compressor build up more air pressure, and check to see if you have an inline pressure regulator (like you might have for a paint shop). If you can, bypass the pressure regulator to use full compressor pressure.

Won't build top pressure an shut off

It sounds like your pressure switch is not set correctly. It is possible it is set too high for the compressor you have.

I have an Ingersoll Rand 2545 Electric Air Compressor and since the summer started it runs all day(won't shut off). At night it seems to cycle correctly but when the heat builds up during the day...

I don't know if your unit is exposed to the direct sun light if it is I suggest you create some shade , or if this this unit is enclosed is not getting enough air flow to keep cool.
( this air flow helps to stabilized the sensor that stop and start the compressor )

My ssl5l compressor builds pressure real slow now. Rings or Valves? it did get a little warm while sandblasting lately....

Very rare to have problems with rings. Blow-by would produce high pulsating pressure in the crankcase causing oil to blow out the oil filler plug/ dipstick. If normal crank pressure, suspect problem with valves or gaskets. Remove air filter cover and check for air blowing out of intake or very hot head or air discharge tube. Leaking valves or blown gasket will cause low volume/ low pressure and hot discharge air. Remove the in-tank checkvalve and look for carbon deposits /debris build-up. If the checkvalve and the interior or discharge hose are coated with oil deposits /carbon, most likely problem is valve plate/ gaskets /head. Good luck with your repair.

Compressor squeaks as pressure begins to build. Not from belt. Does not squeak when no pressure in tank.

Air leaking back from tank check valve or leaking reed valves can make a squeaking or vibrating noise. With pressure in tank remove fitting at the tank check valve and test for leak with soapy water. If leaking, replace with generic valve. If no leak, reinstall fitting and let all the air out of the tank. With empty tank and air filter removed, start compressor and feel strength of suction at intake. When you hear the squeak retest strength of suction at intake and compare. If reed valves are leaking, you will feel less suction as tank pressure increases, and in severe leaking valves, you will actually feel air blowing out of intake. Repair/replace reeds and /or leaking gaskets in head of compressor. Good luck

Poor supply air pressure

3 stage? It sounds like the first stage has a leaking valve, possibly second stage also - this would explain both the high temperature in stage 1 and the poor pressure from the final stage. Take a look at page 6 of the following link. This is the typical intake and outlet valve diagram for each stage. Valves #2 are intake valves, and valves #6 and 7 are discharge valves. They all perform like check valves, each valve allowing air flow in only one direction. It sounds like your valves are leaking between 1st and 2nd stages. Possibly debris in the valves, or valves damaged. Try taking air intake filter off and check for damage to air filter and debris at intake. Also try removing valve plates and check for debris/damaged valves on first and second stages.

I have an IR Air Compressor #SS3 E. It want stop running/building up pressure. I am sure its the pressure relief valve, but there are 2. One at the presure regulator and the other at the pump and motor.How...

if it is lifting both valves I would say that the pressure switch (regulator as you call it) is defective, if you try to shut it off using the manual switch and it keeps running, I would say that the switch is welded shut. if it does not shut off by 125 psi then it is faulty. The pressure switch is what controls the motor in response to pressure in the tank.
