Batteries are installed at the manufacturer and the battery might have been old before it was installed, then the watch might have sat in a warehouse for years before you bought it.

Raymond Weil watch braclet has a screw. Twist it, and then push from the other side. You may need to buy a set of basic tool for about 10 dollars from Amazon. Good luck and enjoy your watch. Alan Anderson

Usually a delay in the second hand means a low battery. If you have not had a battery changed in awhile, then thats my best guess. RW suggests a routine maintenence about every 3 years. They have an awesome website. You can read more and get instructions if needed at following link:
