Picture has green tint on startup

We have a 32" Sony Trinitron KV-32S20. Last month we were watching it and the screen had a bright white flash and went blank. The sound kept on working. I turned the tv off and back on. The picture had a green tint to it which went away in about 5 minutes. 10 minutes later the screen had a bright flash and went out. Again the sound kept working. I turned the tv off and on and the picture had a green tint again which faded away after 5 minutes. The flash hasn't happened again, going on a month now, but the picture has a green tint everytime we turn the tv on. It does fade away but is there any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for any information.

Jar-Head, bad news, the picture tube has a mild short in the green cathode, tech can come out and try to restore it but it`s usually a futile attempt on sony tubes, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, BMW Rider

The picture has a green tint to it on all channels

The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.

If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set.
If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.

Sony Trinitron kv-27HFR blurry

the picture tube is gone.
i repaired 150 sony xbr and kv series with that problem.sony has a single gun not three and has a great pix,but burn out faster.
there is a main screen control that you can adjust ,but the tube is gone.
on the back of the crt there is 3 gun drives r g b .
turn the color all the way down so it is black and white.
if there is a green ore purple tint, one gun is out of balance.
ajdusting the r g b controls so that black and white is normal is what you want to do.
the crt board has the screen bias voltage 800volts on it so be very careful and use an insulated screwdriver to adjust the drive controls.

KV-32FS120 makes a loud noise and green tint when turned on

Loud noise is possibly made by Degausing Coil to demagnetize picture tube and its normal.
Green tint shows picture tube is bit weak in electron emission due to its age and takes time to present good white balance result (good colors)

Sony FD Trinitron Wega model KV-34BR800

Sony Wega Triniton KV-32FS100 TV

For the last week my TV has been going to a black screen for 10 seconds or so then the picture returns. It has been continual. Last night it stopped going to black screen, but now the standby light flashes 5 consecutive times and the color went haywire. A lot of red and everything that is suppose to be black is green.

I did a soft and hard reset with no success. What's wrong and is it worth fixing? Bought new in November 2002.

Solid green screen

Is the green really bright with small white lines in the screen?? If it is its probably a shorted picture tube. That is if you still have sound. If you have no sound its probably a power supply problem in the sweep section of the set. This is not a repair for a consumer to do as its a solid state set and there are no user serviceable parts inside these sets. Get a service person to assit you with this repair. Good Luck
