It could be the oil pump getting weak. if the oil pressure is under 20 psi on the dash then it could be and be causing damage to internal parts. but if it goes away when it warms up then you may have a sticky lifter.

2004 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi using 1 quart every 3,000 miles

Slide a large piece of cardboard under the truck after driving for ten minutes note in which area directly above the spot on the cardboard the oil is coming from then get under the vehicle with a drop light to look for the origin of the leak, if no leak is detected then it may be the engine is burning oil this could either be valve stem seals or broke or worn oil rings.

Knock Sensor location on a 2004 Dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi

2 knock sensors are used..small black plastic sensor bolted into engine block below each exhaust manifold..be careful not to over torque bolts upon installation
