The delay is for focusing and exposure metering. You can speed things up by focusing and setting the exposure manually.

Live View doesnt allow operation of 2 sec delayed shutter. How do I fix please?

You use Live view to get an accurate focus then turn live view off and then once 2 sec delay has been selected (this can be done before going into Live View) release the shutter.

There is a delay between pressing button and photo being taken with my samsung s7000. The delay means that the subject (child) is out of view by the time the photo is taken.

Hi Susan, and welcome to FixYa-
I have had the exact problem that you are describing, albeit a different make and model of camera. Here's how I solved my issue:
I grabbed the nearest heavy object and smashed the camera....
No, but seriously, try this:
The S700 has the standard "Scene Selector" knob on the top. Make sure that this is NOT pointed toward (set to) the "Self Timer" option. The icon for this, on the camera's body, looks similar to the "Auto" setting icon.
The S700 has 3 timer modes: a 10 second delay, 2 second delay and a "Double" mode wherein the camera waits 10 seconds, takes one picture then, after an additional 2 second delay, will take a second picture. The delay must be selected by the user and will appear in your LCD viewing screen. Prior to taking a test picture, look in the display screen to see if any numbers appear. If you see any, you know that the camera is in the Self Timer mode. Simply rotate the button on top of the camera to the "Auto" icon and you'll be all set.
Good luck, and let us know how you go!

Hi When taking pictures in Auto, Live View...the mode changes on screen to Auto Slow, and it sounds like a long delay before taking the picture. New to SLRs. Just curious why this is happening. Thanks!

Hi, no problem, in Live view the AF and aperture is lock and hear a beep. A Lo = scene low light or aperture set in high number, open aperture or set ISO higher .

Live view delay

Oddly I heard some one post a solution to a similar problem. The problem stems from having your camera set to " red eye correction" Taking it off this setting solves the problem.

Long delay on oly evolt 510 before taking picture in P,A,M modes

I'm guessing you have a delay set (people will use this on a tripod). The small button on the top left (next to the flash control) will solve your problem I think.
