Jenn-aire s176 electric oven will not hold set temperature

The electric oven heats to the set temperature, but then goes down and will not maintain the set temperature. I hear the relay clicking. I resoldered the relay board and checked the connections. Whenever i touch the j2 cable or the relay board the relays click on/off as if there is a loose connection.

There is a small cooling fan inside the unit that keeps the relay card cool. If the fan is not operating, the relay panel overheats. If you run the down draft fan and the problem occurs less, you probably have a bad cooling fan.

Oven will not maintain tempature with what was programmed

You might try calling Sears, or wherever you purchased the oven. Or even an appliance repairman. It sounds like the oven temp needs to be re-calibrated, or buy a thermostat to put inside the oven and follow the temp it says.

Our Jenn-Air double oven is 10 yrs old. Will not

There are 3 things that can cause this:

1. Bake or Broil element faulty. The oven cycles these on and off to reach and maintain the average setpoint temperature. If the elements heat poperly during the time they are ON, then they are OK (may be able to see them glow).

2. The temperature sensor probe is faulty. This can cause the oven to think it's hotter than it actually is.

3. The above two causes can be easily diagnosed by a technician with an ohm-meter. If they are both OK, then the problem is in the controller itself. If this is the case you may want to have us repair the controller. We see this fault quite often.

Hope this helps you out.
Regards,
Bruce

5 yr old Jenn Air Electric oven won't maintain oven temperature

Technician just left our house with same issue. Jenn-Air had issued a technical bulletin as the temperature probe is mounted directly to the heating element, and measures the heat of the element, not the oven. Their fix is a revised temperature probe that goes at a 90 degree angle away from the heating element.

If your temperature is consistent, just off by a set amount of degrees, there is an adjustment you can make at the control panel.

Oven doesn't maintain temperature

When an oven doesn't maintain the set temperature, first make sure no one is allowing the heat to escape by opening its door. If not, the oven control either needs to be re-calibrated or replaced. To have the control replaced, call an appliance service person.
