It took me some time, but I found out from the manufacturer Aastra (1-800-288-1683), that the issue with the Vista 390 hands free speaker is related to your internet connection. If your internet is connected to your phone line, you will need to put at least 2 DSL filters on your Vista phone line. I had to put 3 before I could use the speaker phone feature properly. 1 filter by the wall, one by the phone and had to connect a 3rd one before the two-way speaker feature would work properly. Your phone service provider should be able to provide you with these DSL filters...

Why can't people hear me talking when I try to use my TX 550 hands free device. Microphone is not muted.

Hands free needs to be checked especially the microphone.

Suspect connecting cable loose or disconnected internally or hands free board bad/defective (microphone part)

The person I am speaking with does not hear me (He is deaf).
The microphone function does not appear to be working. I have adjusted the volume and that's not the problem (You must speak as well).
I have plugged both jacks (microphone and speaker) into my PC hard drive and am using my PC to talk on Skype (You cant plug even a single jack in the hard drive).
Problem solved!

06 gmc truck steering wheel button

That is for your on star phone that came with the truck. As long as you are paid up on the on star and have minutes on your phone you purchase them seperately. You can press the button and use the phone the little speaker is really a microphone and the speakers for your phone come thru on your radio.

Microphone volume low on sciphone i68

I found a solution but not a final one, during the call turn on the hand's free speaker and the microphone will work fine, you can set the hadsfree speaker to the minimal output so you can use it as the regular ear speaker and the microphone will continue to work well.

Audio Setup for Windows XP and Vista

1. Audio settings, in Windows and Skype

XP: Windows Control Panel / Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices / Sounds & Audio Devices
or Right-click speaker icon in system tray and select "Adjust Audio Properties"

Volume / Device Volume: Make sure “Mute” is NOT checked in this window.
Volume / Device Volume / Advanced: If there is no “Microphone” section in this window, go to Options / Properties and check “Microphone” in the “Playback” list. Then make sure “Mute” IS checked in this window

Audio / Sound Playback: Your on board sound/Sound Card
Audio / Sound Recording: Your on board sound/Sound Card
Audio / Sound Recording / Volume: Make sure "Microphone" is selected and the volume slider is at the center or higher
Audio / Sound Recording / Volume / Advanced: If “Microphone Boost” or “20db Boost” is present, select it

Vista: Windows Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Sound / Manage Audio Devices
or Right-click speaker icon in system tray and select "Playback devices"

Playback: Your speakers or on board sound/Sound Card must appear in this list, and must show “Working”
Playback: Select your speakers or on board sound/Sound Card, then click “Set Default”
Playback / Properties / General: Device Usage: “Use this device (enable)”
Playback / Properties / Levels: “Mute” is not on, volume slider in the middle

Recording: Your Microphone or on board sound/Sound card must appear in this list, and must show “Working”
Recording: Select your Microphone or on board sound/Sound Card, then click “Set Default”
Recording / Properties / General: Device Usage: “Use this device (enable)”
Recording / Properties / Custom: If “Microphone Boost” is present, select it.
Recording / Properties / Levels: Microphone volume should be centre or higher
Recording / Properties / Levels: If there is a “Mute” button, it must not be on

Skype / Tools / Options / Audio Settings:

Microphone: Your headset/mic or USB device or Web cam mic, as you prefer
Speakers: Your headset, USB device or speakers, as you prefer
Ringing: VoIPVoice USB Phone or on board sound/Sound Card; also tick Ring PC speaker

Note: The audio devices you want to use MUST be present in these Skype device lists. If they are not, check the device connections and driver installations again.

2. Microphone and Speaker connections

Check if your mic (pink) and speaker (lime) jacks are in the proper sockets (it is easy to reverse them) and fully inserted (they sometimes stick only partially inserted)
If your microphone or headset has a “Mute” switch, make sure it is not on
If your speakers or headset has a volume control, make sure it is turned up
For test only you can use an earphone instead of microphone (really)! Just unplug the microphone, plug the earphone into the microphone jack, and talk into your earphones. (I know it sounds silly, but it might tell you if your microphone is defective)
A standard microphone plugged into Line In will NOT work.

3. Check audio in Windows.

XP: Start / All Programs / Accessories / Entertainment / Sound Recorder

Vista: Start [Orb] / All Programs / Accessories / Sound Recorder

Make a short recording with the microphone; you should see the level meters moving as you speak. On Windows XP, you can then play back what you recorded.

4. Once done, test with Skype Test Call (echo123).

Unable to communicate on msn with my genius videocam look webcam

Please rate me afterwards Step 1: The "Tools" menu of Windows Live Messenger

1. Recover Windows Live Messenger in our software if you do not have it yet.
2. Start the installation of the software.
3. Once this is done, go to the Tools menu software.

In this menu, two links are important in order to properly configure your camera:"Setting audio and video" and "Parameters of the webcam."This is the first that we will discuss first and foremost, the second used primarily to adjust the parameters of the image in the secondary stage but we are dealing with. Launch therefore setup wizard and click on "Next".

Step 2: The setting of loudspeakers

1. Select your hardware in the menu.
2. Check the box if you use a helmet.
3. Test finally your sound output in order to adjust the volume.

It is possible that you find in the menu several choices. That means you have several elements in your computer capable of transmitting sound, a dedicated card and your motherboard, for example. In this case, make sure to select well the correct input, what you quickly verify the test by loudspeakers.

Step 3: At the turn of the microphone

1. Select your sound source.
2. Start talking to your microphone.
3. Observe the cursor, if it moves, your microphone is working.

Two remarks on the stage configuration. On the one hand, if your camera has no microphone, you must go through a device that you must annex plug into the pink on your sound card. On the other hand, if your mouse does not work, you may have selected the wrong input device sound. Take particular care in this setting and not leave this page only when the cursor s'agitera,
indicating that your voice is recognized by the software.

Step 4: Turning finally to the image

1. Specify this time the source of the video.
2. Observe the window of return: if your setup is satisfactory, your image should appear.
3. Adjust the frame rendering through the "Option" button.

Logitech headset, new vista operating system

either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic. If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.
