Brand new Sennheiser RS140 headphones stopped working

My 3 week-old Sennheiser RS140 headphones stopped working. It appears as if the base station is receiving an audio signal as the on/off light and compression lights are on, however no sound is coming out of the headphones (not even the beeps). I've reset the system as described in the manual by unplugging the base station and removing the batteries, but that did not work either. I've also replaced the 3-week old batteries with brand new ones, and tried a different audio source, but still no sound.

Any ideas?

thanks

Try checking the power connections, on the left hand side, that takes the 2.8 volts over to the right hand side. It would appear that these had shorted out on my headphones and stopped the reciever from working. I moved the wires apart and the headphones started working. I hope this helps.

Mine is a bit older (2yrs), but I have exactly the same problem. Absolutely no sound from the headphones (no beeps). I also tried new batteries, but still nothing.

If you have a solution, let me know!

No sound from my sennheiser 840s

Hi Suzanne, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you.
If you step back and look at this problem, there are two to three things that immediately come to mind: 1) have you hooked your headphone input to an output of another device like an amplifier or tv or ...? 2) Are you certain that the headphones are charged and the power to the base station is good 3) pairing the headphones to the base may be an issue.
Please clarify some things and anything else you can think of. Chad

One side of my headphones aren't working how can I fix this?

The exact same thing happened to me, and I was using the same brand of headphones. :/ At first I thought it was just a **** brand, when my left headphone stopped working and sound would only reach it if I adjusted the base of the headphones - the bit that connects them to the iPod - a tiny fraction. I had to keep adjusting it to get it to work.
But it turned out that this is a problem that occurs in all brands of headphones. I went from Skull Candy to Sennheiser to Apple to Skull Candy again to Bose and no matter what brand it is, it will happen eventually. I don't think there is a solution, except to keep buying new ones and try taking them out of the iPod more gently and less frequently.

No sound from RS130 headphones

I'm having the same problem with the RS140. Only a few weeks old, and no sound at all coming out (not even the beeps). Have replaced batteries and tried a different audio source. Base station lights are on and indicating it is receiving an audio signal, but nothing is going go the headphones.

My sennheiser 120 headphones are wearing out. After much use.

You can buy the HDR 120 model which is basically the headphones lone
These will work with the base in conjunction with the set you have now.. or as a replacement
You can also buy replaceable ear cups for less than 20 dollars (check the Sennheiser website)
Finally you may want to replace the rechargeable batteries in the headphones you have
Just make sure you replace them with the exact type.. I believe those are NiMh AAA
Pop them out and go to any Battery Plus or Radio Shack.. a new set probably run you less than 7 bucks
My point.. for less than 30 dollars you can have your old headphones working and looking like new ones
Give the new batteries an overnight charge before using them

Good luck

Headphones cut in and out - distorted sound

Dance_to_it -
I have had these great headphones over 15 years (I think!)
1. Are the batteries getting a full 8 hour charge?
2. Have you tried all 3 channel options?
3. Is there anything else close by that is an RF transmitter or receiver? If so, move the headphone base or other RF instrument away from each other.
4. If these are the original batteries you probably need new ones.
5. When purchasing new batteries I recommend original equipment Sennheiser BA151 batteries, not any other brand. I have tried 3 or 4 other brands, all with less than satisfying results. I have no affiliation with Sennheiser corp., just a consumer of their products (and Grado's for wired headphones)
Good luck!

Hissing and poor sound quality

Well it could be interference from the TV, computer, or other 900Mhz device (some wireless routers run on this frequency).

I'm currently dealing with the same issue myself, if I find a solution I'll post back.
