Unless your situation is different from most of us, you only have one Internet Service Provider (ISP). That could be Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Verizon or another provider. Generally speaking, every home/apartment has only one provider feeding Internet to that location. If you have a separate detached home, you may have a choice of who will install Internet service in your house, but if you live in an apartment, you may have to use the provider that the rental company allows to provide service.

Either way, once you have Internet service, you must use that provider for Netflix until you switch to another provider. I personally just switched from Time Warner Cable to a local company offering gigabit fiber optic Internet service. I had the fiber optic cable installers leave the coaxial cables that Time Warner ran through my house, but those cables are no longer connected to Time Warner's system.

If you have an HDTV, you can hookup HDMI cable from set-top-box to the HDTV's HDMI input and select that input on the TV using your remote. If you have analog TV, you can hookup using RCA cables (yellow to yellow, white to white). You could also call Time-Warner for assistance.

Called the cable provider, Time Warner, and used the "settings" menu to navigate to power on channel, where I selected the default channel.

I recommend using the code-search function of the Innovage Jumbo Remote for both CABLE and SAT to try and find the one that works with your Time-Warner cable box.

To have the remote try each CABLE or SAT code it knows one at a time, follow these steps:

1. Turn on your cable box.
2. Press and hold the CODE SEARCH button for at least 3 seconds until the red LED lights up and stays lit.
3. Press the CABLE or SAT button on the remote so that the LED blinks once and then remains solid red.
4. Press the ON/OFF button slowly and repeatedly until the cable box turns off. The LED will blink once each time you press the ON/OFF button.
   
5. Once the cable box turns off, press the ENTER button to store the code and the LED will turn off.

i bot a new tv i don't have the book for the time warner remote so i don't know how to program it to work the tv it only works cable box

Chances are that Time Warner is just plain wrong. That's what you get with free tech supp....oh, uh right. scratch that.

Your receiver seems to be receiving a 2-channel digital audio signal (PCM) from the cable HD box. With this type of input signal, you can't select Dolby Digital on the receiver.

If you have a Scientific Atlanta 8300 (or a closely similar model):
Press [Settings] button on the remote twice. This will open the General Settings menu. Go to "Audio: Digital Out" and the select Dolby Digital (by hitting [-> Move Right]).

If you have another type of cable box, just review the settings menus until you find something relevant to digital audio out and avoid PCM, stereo or "down conversion", but look for Dolby Digital, DTS or "All".

Please keep in mind, that when connecting devices via HDMI cables, your box may decide it's smarter than you and reset the format of the digital audio back to PCM. This is some possibility of this occurring if the cable box or TV is unplugged and plugged back in.

Time Warner Cable just sucks!!!

When you use the Time Warner Digital box, you're using the tuner inside that box rather than the tuner inside your TV to select a channel. Picture in picture TV's have two tuner's inside so you can view two channels, but they can only tune the analog channels from your cable company, and only if it's hooked up in a manner that will permit this to happen.

So you only have one digital tuner (the Time Warner Box) so you can only view one channel at a time even though your TV supports Picture in Picture.

It MAY be possible to have limited use of the PIP if you connect your TV in a different way. Your Time Warner box is most likely connected to your TV set with composite cables, those are the Yellow, Red, White cables. If you buy a coaxial cable splitter and split the cable before it goes into the Time Warner box you can then run a coax cable into both the Time Warner box and the coax input on your TV. This would allow you to tune the analog Time Warner channels with both of your TV's tuners. In my area I think the first 60 channels or so are still available in analog, but there is no way to watch any of the higher premium channels without the Time Warner box.

If you go through these steps and you select the coax input on your TV your PIP will work on the lower channels. It MAY be possible to tell your TV to display the input from the composite cables on one of the PIP screens and the input from the coax on the other, but I kind of doubt it.

I know this sounds complicated and if you're not familiar with the way all this works it is complicated. The reason lots of people won't respond to this kind of question on this site is because there is no easy fix and by trying to help I run the risk of getting a bad rating.
