I have a sony wide screen projection tv model # KP51WS520. After recently rearranging our living room; we moved the tv to the oppisite side of the room, the tv doeen't come on. Instead the standby LED just continueously blinks 9 times then pauses for about 3 seconds and then another 9 blinks. If you continue to try to get it to come on it eventually will turn on and everything works just fine. Somtimes it takes 5or more minutes of pressing the remote to get it to come on.
Try pushing the buttons on the remote and let me know what comes up on the screen if anything.
Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power. This brings up
a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred.
Each of the problem names is abbreviated as, "OCP", "OVP", "V STOP", ETC.
We have repeated them in parentheses in the text for the "Blinks" described
above so you can correlate between the diagnostic screen and the blink
codes.
Sequence through the buttons that should put your set into self diagnosis. And list the problems on the screen
Okay those are the code that says your diagnostics doesnt detect any errors. Youre positive it blinks 9 times? Cause Sony is supposed to only go to 8 blinks. To clear your diagnostic screen just push the power button off, this will get you out of diagnose mode. Count your blinks again then let me know.
Thats a good possibilty. Because sony is not susposed to blink 9 times 8 is the most. So you could very well have some bad Diodes. Do you have a service manual for this set
You probaly just have a loose connection from moving it. Its probaly a real easy fix. usually just moving them doesnt cause Diode failure. Probaly a connection on one of the modules.

Five blinks - AKB
circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks
for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function.
Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761
and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on
the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning
up screen A2 slightly.

Sorry I haven't replied back sooner. I tried your sugestion Without any thing happening. Does the TV have to be on when you do this?,because I can't even get it to turn on today. Do you mean to sequence through these buttons re: push display then push the 5 button then vol minus and then the power button, or do you mean to push all these keys at once?
OK, I got it to turn on finally & it lists #s 2 thru 10 they all are zeros except 9 which says ZCD 255 so what does this mean & how do I get this self diagnossis display off the screen? Any help you can provide is much appreciated. Tinmandave
Yes I'm positive that it blinks 9 times. My Sony is a model KP51WS520 it's about 3 yrs. old. The display reads like this
2: +B OCP 0
3: +B OUP 0
4: V Stop 0
5: AKB 0
6: Low B 0
7: H Stop 0
8: Audio 0
9: ZCD 255
10: HV Prot 0
101: WDT 0
I found someone with the same problem on another site and they were told that the problem was with 2 diodes on their G-Board. I don't know if I have the same problem or not ,I was hoping there was a simple solution.
No I don't have a service manual. I just moved the set from one side of the room to the other and then it started doing this. I thought maybe moving it had something to do with it,like maybe it shook something looose.
My sony is doing the same thing it blinks 9 times and will not turn on and then the display #5 then vol - and then power it turns on but the dia, will not go away
My Sony tv KP51WS520 also is doing the same thing. The stand by light blinks 9 times. I performed the diagontics test and had all zeros except for #9 and it showed ZCD 104.Help needed if possible.
I've been gone from home for 3 days and when I came back it wouldn't come on and the stand by light blinks 9 times. What do I do?
