Hello djlampl,

With the lowest spin cycle setting I enter spin cycle in Quick Wash around the 21 minute mark. But first question is do you hear the grinding noise with the tumblers rotating during the wash/agitate cycle?

If you start a spin only cycle do you hear the grinding noise?

Does the washer error code out with an error code to the display? Codes such as dC, uC, Lr?, I assume the machine type is a FAV6800AW is that correct?

Any additional info will help in troubleshooting…..Rich

Assuming the machine type is a FAV6800A/FAV9800A here are some handy links;

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

GETTING DC ERROR CODE WITH A GRINDING SOUND AND THEN IT STOPS COMPLETELY

The DC error code is 9 time out of 10 caused by a Clutch Pulley malfunction. The grinding may ne Outer Tub Bearings but need more info. Open the Washer Lid. Spin the wash basket CCW. Do you hear and grinding noise?

The noise may be coming from under neath the tumblers. Further troubleshooting is required.

Do you have basic DIY mech. skills and do you want to save your $1K machine?

If so Google Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW

In the Sticky: Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW 5 post down you will find a link to the Service Manual. You absolutely need the Service Manual to DIY issues with the machine. It's not the best SM but will get you started. I also have repair post in that sticky to help with the most common issues that I have helped owners with. I'm an owner of a FAV6800AWW top load machine.

Good luck.

I have a Maytag Neptune TL (FAV6800AWQ , Serial # 10178127EC) that starts and stops after the wash cycle begins. It fills up fine but starts and stops/pauses and the time doesn’t lapse. On a normal load...

You have a Series 10 machine 1st two digits of your s/n.

Seems like you have the Service Manual or troubleshooting guide.....can't get that from Servicematters any more I feel you have some drive system binding.

I helped a owner on another forum similar problem. Google this "Neptune TL Spinning Issue Will Not Proceed". Did a lot of up front testing in the end he ended up replaceing the Outer Tub Bearings, the Clutch Pulley.

Start by opening the washer lid and see if you can rotate the wash basket with one finger in the CCW Spin direction. There should be only slight resistance to rotate the wash basket CCW. During the 1st water fill of the wash basket the Control Board will spin the wash Basket slow rpm you can enter Service Mode and observe the rpm on the LED console.

Next start a Quick Spin test and note the highest RPM range the machine will spin up to. Looking for Outer Tub Bearing resistance.

I would suggest another DIY forum to work thru this issue if you are going to DIY. This forum is hit and miss we posting pics and e-mail notification for support......Rich

Has 33 minutes and a error message of nd--maytag Neptune tl

What is the Model number of your machine if its a FAV6800A or FAV9800A please read on.

The ND error code means No Drain.

You could have a drain line clog or a stuck Pressure Switch contacts.

See this post for past troubleshooting;

http://www.fixya.com/support/t2209123-code_nd_fav6800aww_serial_number_10

There are links to the Service Manual and I go over how to put the machine in Service Mode to check that the Pressure Switch is signaling properly.

Do you want to DIY the repair?

Let me know.........Rich

Maytag Neptune TL clothes still dripping wet after full cycle

Pump out time of 40 seconds sounds good.

No ND error code and you spin up to 850RPM which is max for the machine.

You have no standing water in the wash basket.... I'm scratching my head.

Could you do a Spin Only cycle with that same wet wash load and set the SPIN for Max Extract. After you start the Spin Only cycle put the machine in Service Mode and watch the RPM range. This cycle sets the display to 12 minutes. Let’s see if the wash load remains wet and what max RPM is reached.

""Maybe the pump is not turning on during the spin cycle?"" You have no standing water in the wash basket correct? I feel the pump is turning on or you would have standing water in the wash basket and the pressure switch would have never indicated an empty condition (Low Level pressure switch contacts) to the Control Board. The Control Board would have stopped the wash cycle with a ND for no drain error code.

The pump in the spin cycle will turn on a number of times see if you hear turn on in a Spin Only cycle

I just ran a Spin Only light wash load with about 5 gallons of water in the wash basket. Timer went to 12 min. I toggled into Service Mode to watch wash basket RPM. At about the 5 Min mark (toggle in and out of Service Mode) the wash basket reached 850RPM then a few minutes later it stepped down to 830RPM to end of Spin Only Cycle. You don’t have a water valve stuck open or you would flood/over flow of the machine. Did you here the drain pump turn on several times during the Spin Only cycle?

Neptune 6800 is stuck in a loop

I’m owner of the FAV6800A and a novice also but this is how we learn by becoming self educated and involved as a DIY’er. Good for you that you are willing to roll up your sleeves. To get into Service Mode and read Diag codes you will need the Service Manual. The SM can be found at this site PDF format, in “Tips & Tricks” located here FOUND “”FOUND: Service Manual Neptune Top Load Washer FAV6800AW.”” Also the Troubleshooting guide in the console of your machine is a handy document it has the schematic for your machine, there are soft copies of the schematic out on the WWW. There is no master reset for the microprocessor on the Control Board other then pulling the 120VAC power to the machine, that will dump any error codes in the machine stored in RAM on the controller board. Don’t pull the power just yet, first see if you can get into Service Mode “see page 14 Enter/Exit Service Mode” and check for any errors that may be stored in the Control Board memory. See page 17 of the SM, I would be interested in any error response for Diag.Code 11. I’m concerned you may have a failure issue with the controller board. Also I want to make sure I understand the problem as described. In Quick Wash my machine starts at 28 your’s counts down to 24 and no further in the wash cycle, you never make it to Spin cycle is that correct? Also how did you drain the machine? It can be done in Service Mode by turning on the drain pump. The grinding noise issue…did you find anything (coins) under the tumblers causing the grinding noise? Do you have the original Motor Controller Board?
