Dacor ECD230 Epicure Electric Double Oven Logo
Posted on Nov 23, 2009

The lower oven on the ECD230 does not heat. Most recent operation was a self clean. Does not appear to be a programming issue. Problem persists with new bake element installed.

I just got the same problem...but neither the bottom or top (broil) elements work. This started after a "clean" cycle.

  • Anonymous Nov 27, 2009

I had the same problem after auto-cleaning my oven just before Thanksgiving. The cause was overheating...and the tripping of a heat sensor switch.

The switch (reset button) is located about 3 inches behind the door locking mechanism.

Removing the front panel (4 screws) that the door lock sticks through exposes the switch. Just push the little red button & your are back in business!!

Why does the f10 code keep appearing on self cleaning fridgidaire oven? When using oven it starts heating out of control. Tends to happen when oven is being used for longer periods of time.

The thermostat is defective. It is a temperature sensor operated switch. It turns the heating element on and off to regulate the proper temperature in the oven at all times.

F8 alert. What does this mean? The clock and "cancel" buttons work, but no heating buttons work, and self-clean will not operate.

F8 code means your door latch assy needs to be replaced, them you have options:
1. Turn it off on the circuit braker
2. Replace the door latch.

It will continue to try to lock itself most likely, as door latch micro-switch logic is messed up.

Hope helps.

My friend pressed self clean on the oven and the oven said it turned off how do I turn the oven back on. I can't click bake but I can just click light.

The self clean cycly lasts several hours during which time you can't open the oven or turn it off. You will just have to sit and wait.

I pressed the self clean option and the oven locked but every two minutes an alarm sounds and the code F8 appears. The cancel option stops the alarm temporarily. How do I either clean the oven or cancel...

F8 code means your door latch assy needs to be replaced. Two options:
1. Turn it off on the circuit braker
2. Replace the door latch.
It will continue to try to lock itself most likely, as door latch microswitch logic is messed up.

Bottom oven not working

It is quite possible the control electronics have failed. There are separate relays for the upper and lower ovens. Ours recently failed the upper oven with the same symptoms and it was the electronic control. The other part is the overheat thermal sensor for the oven may be out.

My Dacor ECD230 stopped heating???

The high limit switch has tripped on this unit. Remove the vent panel behind the door and there will be a button in there behind the wires. Press this button with the circuit breaker turned off and that will rectify the problem. You still might need a servicer out to take a look at the unit though
