ATT E2125 Cordless Answering System with Caller ID/Call Waiting
The phone started giving a warning check battery message whenever the phone rang. I decided to replace the battery, but the phone does not recognize replacement batteries -- just dead, not even a check battery warning. The phone will still recognize the original battery, but it doesn't hold charge for very long (even if it sits in the cradle all day).
When you put replacement batteries in the phone and place it in the cradle to charge, you hear a periodic popping noise. I figured that the contacts in the phone or on the cradle might be dirty and not making a connection, so I tried cleaning the contacts with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, but this didn't seem to fix the problem.
I also tried the recommendation on the ATT support website of unplugging the phone and removing the battery for 5 minutes and trying again. This seemed stupid, and it didn't work.
Exactly the same thing happened to me. I called the ATT help line and was told to by a new phone. Also the E2125 was discontinued. Hmm, wonder why(LOL)Exactly the same thing happened to me. The phone gave me a check battery message. I took the battery out for a period of time and then put back in. It would work again for a little and then the warning would come back. I ordered a replacement battery but it would not work in the phone. It must be defective from ATT.

This is a very basic phone and has no Voicemail facility. If your phone company has that facility as an additional service, you phone them, request it, agree to pay the fee if there is one. They will send you details on how to access it on their servers, how to create your message and how to access it. It is also in this link if you have already paid.

I have the same problem.... not sure why it happens but in fact the battery has actually been charged. If you open the battery compartment, then unplug the battery and plug it back it will work fine. Quite annoying to have to do this all the time.
