Hi,
If you have mastered matrix manipulations on the TI calculators, it should be a breeze to learn the same on the Casios.

A. Define the matrix (Create it)

  1. Turn calculator ON.
  2. Press Menu, select the MAT icon and press [EXE]
  3. You see a list of possible matrix labels (A, B, C,D,E,F)
  4. All that have not been created have a "none" to their right
  5. Highlight a matrix name and press the right arrow. Where there was "none" , you have a template 0x0.
  6. That is where you specify the dimensions (mxn). exemple. 2x2
  7. Enter the first dimension and press [EXE]
  8. Enter the 2nd dimension and press [EXE]
  9. A matrix template opens where you enter the coefficients left to right and up down.
  10. After each coefficient press [EXE]. Cursor moves to the next coefficient, etc.
At the bottom of the screen you have 3 menus for Row and column manipulations. But those will have to wait for now.
Press [SHIFT][QUIT] to return to the list of matrices to create new ones

Operations on matrices
Once you have one matrix, you can do operations on it: Calculate the determinant (if matrix is square), calculate its inverse, transpose, augment it, fill it, etc..
  1. These operations are accessed as follows.
  2. Quit the matrix editor by pressing [Menu] and selecting the [Run] application.
  3. Press [OPTN][F2:MAT]
  4. You have the menus Mat,M(atrix)->L(ist), Det(erminant), Trn (transpose), Aug(ment) ->, Iden(tity),Dim(ension) Fill
Exemple : calculate the determinant of a matrix A (already defined).
  1. You press the [OPTN][F2:MAT] key sequence (just above)
  2. Press [F3:Det]; the command det is displayed on screen.
  3. Press [F1:Mat] the identifier Mat is displayed.
  4. Press [ALPHA] A; screen display det Mat A.
  5. Press [EXE] to get the value of the determinant.
Square of Matrix A
[OPTN][F2:MAT] (MAT) [Alpha] A ^2 [EXE]
Product of two compatible matrices MatAXMatB
[OPTN][F2:MAT] (MAT) [Alpha] A [* ) (MAT) [ALPHA] B [EXE]

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

    OOPS
    [OPTN][F2:MAT] (MAT) [Alpha] A [* ) (MAT) [ALPHA] B [EXE]
    should be
    [OPTN][F2:MAT] (MAT) [Alpha] A [*] (MAT) [ALPHA] B [EXE]

Matrix casio fx9750giihow can I find eigenvalues and eiginvectors for a matrix in my calculator? :)

This calculator cannot find eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices for you. The calculator does have many row and column operation that you can use to solve your problem. You need to know the theory of matrices, determinants, and some eigenvalue and eigenvector finding algorithms.

On which calculator can i solve 6*6 matrix

If you want to manipulate 6x6 matrices, you can use one of the CASIO Graphing calculators, such as theCFX-9850GPlus, or the FX-9750G plus.
Graphing calculators from other manufacturers can also handle such matrices. The FX-115ES can handle matrices with dimensions up to 3x3.

Connecting casio to texas instr

I compared two cables and noticed that they are identical. One insulating part on the TI cable is longer than the corresponding part on the Casio cable. But no matter, let us assume that the calculators share the same 2.5 mm connection.
You can verify the hardware compatibility as follows
  1. Use the Casio I/O cable to connect two TI calculators. The Casio cable wakes up the TI84PLus
  2. Use the TI I/O cable to connect to Casio calculators. The TI cable wakes up the Casio FX9550GII but not the CFX-9750GPlus nor the Graph 35. But that may not mean too much.
  3. Create a Matrix ( a 3X3 ) on one TI8xPLUS and transfer it to another TI8xPLUS using the Casio Cable.
  4. Create a small (3x3) matrix on one Casio C/FX-9750G/PLUS and transfer it to another C/FX-9750G/Plus.
  5. If you have been successful in any of the above you may try to transfer an object from a TI to a casio or from a Casio to a TI and the cable that worked above.
My feeling is that you cannot. I tried it
When I tried to transfer from a TI to a Casio, the Casio kept displaying RECEIVING , AC to cancel. The TI returned an Xmit ERROR
When I tried to transfer from a Casio to TI, the Casio quickly returned a Transmit Error, while the TI kept waiting for a transmission.

There may be other issues of memory organization, naming conventions, systems commands and program commands so on.

For each problem you want to have your students solve try to supply the procedures for both types of calculators. This, in my opinion, is the reasonable way to go. A benefit to you is that you learn the expert use of both types of calculators.
If you care to specify what kind of programs you intend to transfer from one to the other, one may be able to point you to some resources available on the web.

How to do matrix with variables?

Hi,
If I understand correctly you want to perform matrix calculations on matrices the coefficients of which may be numbers and/or letters (variables, parameters). While you can calculate on numerical matrices, you cannot do so with matrices with non numerical coefficients. this calculator does not know symbolic algebra.

For symbolic algebra and calculus you would need a calculator with a CAS, Computer Algebra System. Exemples of those are the TI89, Ti92, Ti Voyage 200 PLT, The Casio FX-Algebra, the Casio ClassPad, HP48S/X/G/GX/G+, HP49G/49G+, HP50G, HP48GII etc.

Hope it Helps.

How to calculate calculus problem by a scientific calculator fx-991ms

Hello,
If by calculus problem you mean derivatives of functions, integrals, extrema and such things, I am sorry to inform you that neither the Casio FX-300MS, nor the FX-991MS can handle them. The newer Casio calculator FX-991ES is capable of performing numerical differentiations and integrations. There also graphing calculators by Casio FX-9750G, FX-9860G as well as by Texas Instruments (TI 83 PLUS/TI84PLUS) that are reasonably performant in that area.

Hope it helps.

Trying to get the inverse of a matrix

Hello,

The error may be due to the key you used to signifie inverse. It says in the manual that you should use the key x^-1 not the one used to input general powers.
Here is screen capture from the Appendix to the manual. The picture shows the sequence of keys to press to obtain the inverse of a 2x2 matrix. It is taken from page 41 of Appendix

moz-screenshot-1.pngd2bc4ab.jpg
The matrix used in the exemple is
a_11=2 a_12=1 a_21=1 a_22=2
Here is the link to download the manual and the appendix
