Re: the suction is not working. we have tried all the
Suction path is very short. Options are few....
1. Is the suction adapter proper inserted in the back of the dirty water tank?
2. is the cover on correctly and tightly on the dirty water tank?
3. is the brush inlet screen (under the clear plastic "door" near the brush control button) clean/clear of debris?

When the cleaner is standing in the upright position, it's engineered to divert suction automatically from the cleaner head to the hose. The correct way to use the hose, wand and dusting tools is shown in the user guide:
If there doesn't seem to be any suction coming through the hose when the cleaner is standing upright, you may need to check the machine for blockages. The easiest way to do this is to follow the steps shown in our online support guide:
It's also a good idea to give the filter a wash, as demonstrated in the video below. Under normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without any detergents, and always make sure the filter is totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 24 hours.
By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve your issue without further assistance. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you recommend the best course of action.
This model has a complicated trouble-shooting procedure that needs to be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech.
This is often caused by a bad relay board or a Triac. However, problems in wiring or swswiches, including the hose wiring.
I stress that this must be done by an authorized Aerus Electrolux service tech.
Is there suction at the end of the hose? If so, then there's a clog in the power head air flow section. To double check, detach the hose, drop a coin into power head and see if it falls through.
You can clear it by using the hose and crevice tool to **** the clog out from the brush end. If this doesn't work, try using a knitting or crochet needle to pull clog out. It may also be possible to reach it with needle nose pliers.
This is an incomplete solution. Mine (DC 14 Animal) worked great and
then it didn"t and then it did after checking to make sure that all the
parts were on securely. I noticed that while the suction sort of seemed
normal, it was not strong enough to pick op fine dust from window
sills.
The elbow thing near the floor on the right side was not seated
properly. I fixed that and it worked great for a while and then lost
too much of suction again for no apparent reason. I took a look on the
Dyson web sight and they have a trouble shooting guide. The first step
is to inspect the main filter and clean it. If I do this again I'll go
through the rest of the check process before I clean the filter with
cold water as recommended to avoid waiting (12 hours?) for the filter
to dry. Mine did not appear dirty and I was unable to rinse out scads
of dirt.
I followed the instructions for clearing airways and checking seals...
with the canister removed, all suction seems to be fabulous. I'll know
in the morning if it really works again after the filter is dry and I
can reassemble the thing.
Short version? Try the troubleshooting guide at Dyson.com. I'll try to
add to this if it works like new again! All in all, it seems simpler to
maintain and trouble shoot that any other vac I have owned.
Either the hose has a clog, or the inlet down by the belt is clogged. Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then it is clogged. If there is suction, then it has to be clogged down below by the brush roll, check that inlet. There also is a filter at the bottom where the dirt cup (and bag) is, check it also.
Mine does the same thing. There is no suction. I found that there is a door that opens when you tilt the handle in the down possition. I think there should be a spring in place so it can open. Until I find a replacement spring I have to open the door manually throught the opening under the light.
