This machine has no belts. There is an air driven turbine that propels the brushes. If you look under the little glass window at the left front corner of the machine, there is an intake screen just above the indicator dial. That screen is there to keep debris from entering the turbine and will have to be kept clean. If it is clogged, then the turbine will not function. It is also possible that moisture has entered the turbine and siezed the bearings. If that is the case, the turbine would have to be replaced. Also, because this turbine works off the suction of the motor, if the recovery tank lid is not on correctly, then the suction loss will effect the brushes. Check the lid and make sure it is on right.

How do we get at the drive belt? The cover seems to be sealed.

There is no belt in a Hoover SteamVac. The brushes are turned by an air driven turbine. If the brushes are not turning, it is usually because the turbine has seized up and may need replacement. Insert a screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush assembly normally fits into and see if it turns. If it doesn't, you will need a new turbine.

The Hoover steam vac dual v does not spin its brushes and I dont know how to dismantel it to view the belt .

There is no belt on the steam vac - it operates on air flow. Remove the brush and insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole. If it does not turn, the turbine has seized up and must be replaced. Remember that the brush will not turn unless the lower tank is in place, and the handle is tilted back.

How do you get to the belt on a Hoover steam vac?

I hate to tell you, but there is no belt at all on the steam vac line. they have a suction driven turbine to turn the brushes, and a suction driven pump for the water flow. But definately no belts.

If something is not working on it, describe more in detail what is not working and we can narrow it down better for a proper solution.

I own a hoover steam vac model f5915-900 and i currently have two problems. 1. the brushes are spinning at a much slower speed. 2. the steam vac is not picking up the water it leaves on the carpet....

the reason the brushes are not spinning is because the belt is slipping, the belt is the bad that connects to the brush to a shaft that makes it spin. Next problam is it is probobly clogged. so water is not going through all the way

Hoover F7458900 steam vac brushes won't turn

No, there is a turbine that turns the brushes. You can take the top cover off to get to it, open it up and clean it out and then try it again. If that doesn't work, then replace it, or just replace it to begin with.

Steam vac hoover F7458900

There is no belt, the brush block is turned by a turbine. Check the brush block, make sure that the shaft that goes into the turbine isn't broke off, If ok, then replace the turbine, or take it apart and clean it out.

Belt on steam vac v2

The V2 doesn't use a belt, it uses a turbine to drive the brush block, If brushes are not turning, either the shaft on the brush block broke off, or the turbine is bad and will have to be replaced.
