I play NHL09 online with my PS3. I have Comcast

I play NHL09 online with my PS3. I have Comcast as my ISP and use a Linksys WRT54GS router. My connection is poor because there is so much lag while I play. My players move slowly and I have no control over them for the most part. I have tried opening ports (port forwarding) to no avail. I'm beginning to think that I'm not going to be able to take advantage of online gaming. Any suggestion?

If you are using wireless to access your router be sure that it has some sort of security enabled. Preferably WPA or WPA2. There could be neighbors leeching your connection causing your problems.

I think you may find that this will be entirely your isp. do you have a particular broadband cap and have you used it all? have you tried it with any success with any other online multiplayer games? One thing you can try is to hardwire your ps3 to your router and see how you go

I had that problem with my D-Link router. What I did was re-installed the router, then my PS3 would connect and so would my PSP.

Hope this helps!

Trying to turn a Linksys WRT54GS into a hub

  1. If you want to set the router to work only as a switch with wireless access point, you may need to get into its setup page and adjust some settings.
  2. Using a computer that is wired directly to one of the router's Ethernet ports, launch IE and type 192.168.1.1. It is the default IP address of the router. Then it will open a window, asking for a username and password. By default, there is no username and the password is admin.
  3. Once you're in the router's User Interface, look for a sub tab called "Advanced Routing" under the main tab SETUP. Then set router mode to "Router" instead of Gateway. In some router's, the choice there is NAT enable or disable. If it is the one showing there instead of Router mode, then set NAT to disable. Click Save settings which is located at the bottom portion of the screen.
  4. Then click on "Basic Setup" and then disable DHCP server. Save the settings then.
  5. Then your modem now will be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports of the router.
Hope this helps!

Ps3

Are you going to connect your PS3 wired to your router or wireless?
1. check first if ps3 is working behind rca modem.
2. then connect a pc directly to your linksys router
3. open configuration page of linksys by typing your gateway on your browser. (usually it is by default 192.168.1.1)
4. go to applications and gaming tab
5. you'll find there port forwarding..key in your number there
> i guess your numbers are like 88 and 3764 (something like that)
6. if your trying to connect your playstation wirelessly, you need to know your wireless security (if your router is secured).
> go to wireless tab and look for wireless security
> get your key
7. go back to playstation and try to view your wireless network
> connect and type in your key

=)
