Some times you will need to open the Logical Ports on the router.
These are the logical ports.
For this you will need to open the set up interface of the router.
Once you open the set up interface of the router, you will be able to find the settings on the router where you can open the ports for the particular program.

If you are opening the ports for a special device in your network, then you must know the IP address of that device.
For example, wireless camera, DVR, X-box, Play station ...
You can choose the option PORT FORWARDING for a special device application.
If you just want to open the ports for all the network, then you can choose PORT TRIGGERING

For example ,
You have a Linksys wireless router and you want to open the ports for the X-box.
You have opened the set up interface of the router. You will see Application and Gaming TAB at the top.
If you click on that tab you will find different Sub tabs.
Click on Port Triggering => Here you can open the port numbers for the network.
Click On Port forwarding if you want to open the ports for a special device in the network.
Click Save settings once you open the ports on the router.

Some of the recommended port numbers for different applications :

IMAP ==> 143 SMTP : 25
HTTPS ==> 443 HTTP : 80
DNS ==> 53 FTP : 21
SNMP ==> 161 TELNET : 23
XBOX ==> 53, 80-88, 3074
PS3 ==> 80, 443-447 ,5223, 3478-3479, 3658, 10070-10080.
WII ==> 28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, 443
VPN ==> 1723, 500, 443-447, 10000-20000
World of Wars ==> 3724, 6112, 6881 - 6999

New topic about Intellinet Active...

You have a switch which is like a hub. You want a router, the router will assign IP addresses to each computer in your home. If you need to set up port forwarding then you do that within the router settings. For the most part newer routers have Universal plug and play which will handle the port forwarding for you.

Inability access from other computers

You need to check with your router vendor on how to setup DMZ or Port Forwarding for your DCS-5220 in your router. (For Port Forwarding, please open BOTH HTTP Port and RTSP Port and select the Protocol as TCP for HTTP Port and select the Protocol as TCP/UDP(Both) for RTSP Port.

Accessing echolink nodes

Please go to the following website and check the port numbers that you have forwarded. Some wireless routers do have issues forwarding ports. http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/port-scanner/ Also, before you use this tool, make sure ICMP is not blocked in the router's settings; if it is blocked all ports would show blocked. Try this and let me know the results. Cheers

Port forwarding

its explaned in the manual - here on page 47 http://www.actiontec.com/support/broadband/gt704-wg.html which is probably simpler than repeating here - however, if you have trouble with the manual - post back a reply
