Unlocking dooropen it from inside and outside with key but when I shut it cannot stop it from locking

Sounds like you have what is called a dead bolt on your door these are so you do not forget to lock the door but can be a problem as locking yourself in or out.
In the spot where the little silver latch that goes in and out into the door frame that opens and closes to lock the door and open it there should be a little silver thing above it.
Open the door push the latch in and the silver thing above release the latch the latch should stay in. Then release the top lock.

Drivers side door closed and will not open.

Remove inner door latch and try operating the rod manually (vice grips). If locked, spray everything inside the door with WD-40 or the like and try operating the lock.

I locked the door latch maualy at the door of 2000 ford explorer how do release it

Look into the lock opening on the door frame for a part you can reach with a flat-blade screwdriver.
These can normally be opened if prying on the lock mechanism.

If you want to risk another door, watch the mechanism move when locking it manually.
You should then be able to reset both.

What would cause the rear door latch to work correctly when unlocked, yet when locked to completly release the door so it can open on it's own?

Make sure that the striker plate is adjusted right. Most have an adjustment you can set. you may need a special wrench.

2007 ford freestar lift gate will not open even though I can hear the lock disengaging. Still feels locked. It is manual open, but cannot lift it, feels locked.

Try pressing the door closed while unlocking and releasing. If the door previously has been slammed shut hard or just due to general wear and tear the latching mechanism can become slightly relocated. This means that when the door closes the door is pressing tighter than normal against the door seal. The compressed door seal will put a lot of strain on the latch mechanism and can hinder its retraction when released. By pressing the door closed and therefore removing the strain due to the door seal you might allow the release mechanism enough freedom of movement to retract when released. If having got the door open then immediately adjust/relocate and lubricate the lock/release mechanism such that you achieve a happy medium of the door closing with a weatherproof seal but not so tightly as to put the latch under a lot of strain.

I have an old(over 20 nyears) free standing magic chef model No. 177-31DB2 range. I put it on the cleaning cycle and everything seemed to be working well. But then it seemed like there was alot of smoke so...

WHEN THE DOOR IS LOCKED ON A SELF-CLEANING RANGE, AND THE TEMP GETS ABOVE 400 DEGREES, IT LOCKS THE LATCHING ASSEMBLY SO YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR AND GET SCORCHED. IF YOU FORCED THE HANDLE TO TRY TO OPEN IT, YOU BENT THE ARM OF THE LATCHING ASSEMBLY. IN ORDER TO RELEASE THE LATCH,
ONLY IF YOU FORCED IT TO THE OPEN POSITION, YOU MUST FORCE IT BACK TO THE LOCK POSITION TO STRAIGHTEN THE ARM.THEN IT MIGHT RELEASE.

IF YOUR RANGE HAS A LOCK BUTTON THAT NEEDS TO BE
PRESSED TO SLIDE THE LATCH TO THE LOCK POSITION,
YOU WILL HAVE TO SET ALL CONTROLS BACK INTO THE CLEAN POSITION AND PRESS THE LOCK BUTTON TO RELEASE THE LOCK ON THE LATCH ASSEMBLY. YOU SHOULD HEAR A BUZZING OR HUMMING SOUND WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED.

Door locked open

Tool: We cut a piece a wire about 10 inches long from a wire clothes hanger. On one end we bent 1/2 inch of the wire in a 90 degree angle with needle nose pliers. On the other end of wire we put another bend at least three inches.(this end will be your handle end) Process of using homemade tool to release latch: Make sure washing machine is on a wash cycle. Use flash light to locate latch in the locking catch. Insert the small bend of the tool into the locking catch. Then hook onto the latch and pull out --apply a small amount of pressure -- about three lbs of pressure) Then at the same time you are pulling, press in on the door release button (the little white button above the latch hole where you now have the wire inserted). As your are pulling with little pressure on the latch, hold the little white button in and press the start /stop button. You should hear the door lock. Let machine start working. (about ten seconds) Now push start/stop button again and you should hear door lock release. Your lock catch should give away. This worked for us.
