It is impossible to fix/clean the key contacts.
The best solution is to replace the keyboard.

Use the "On-Screen" keyboard - the mouse must be working to select the characters on the virtual keyboard.

probably your son might lock the keyboard what you have to do is that on the keyboard you will see where they wrote Fn key beside the ctrl key hold or press the key, then on top of the functional key i.e F1 to F12 among those keys you will see where they draw or shown something like key or padlock press the key in other to open your keyboard.

In case it doesn't work try the second option.

well, what i can say is that try to loose the laptop you will see where they wrote kb at the back of the laptop then loose those screw after loosing it, then bring out the keyboard with the flex then dust it out.
if it those not work again change the keyboard.

Keyboards are made with mechanical switches. If most of your keys work, then I would assume that the electronics are still OK and that the issue is with 'sugar coated contacts' caused by dried/semi-dried sweet pop liquid. The best way would be to carefully open the keyboard to get to those sugar coated contacts and clean them with some cleaning white spirit/denatured/medical alcohol. You could alternatively lift the cover for the specific key (which normally clicks on the switch) and pour some cleaning alcohol down the center of the switch to dislodge the sugar. IN ALL CASE, MAKE SURE THAT THE POWER IS OFF AND YOU ARE IN WELL VENTALITED AREA AWAY FROM ANY FIRE SOURCE OR SPARKS! LET THE ALCOHOL EVAPORATE COMPLETELY BEFORE RECONNECTING!

Do you mean to say that he had turned the hotkeys ON? If so, please press the shift button five times. If you are referring that even the keyboard is nt working, please check for the internal wiring.

Take the phone to a mobile service center and ahve them replaced teh keyboard for you.

if you can get into the bios settings using the keyboard but when it get to the windows logon screen the keyboard stops working then it could be driver issue within windows.
Get hold of a usb keyboard, and plug it in to the laptop with the power off, start the pc, if the usb controllers are enabled in the bios you should be able to use the other keyboard until you work out what the problem is with the laptop keyboard
