Open the desktop, and re-seat the memory. Let me know if that works.
Have you tried clearing the cmos already?
Please don't rate my solutions as one thumb, I'd rather have no rating then 1 thumb...thx.
Look for the battery on the motherboard...there's usually a red or black plastic jumper nearby. There will be three pins. Just switch the plastic to the other two pins, wait 10 seconds and then put it back where it was.
OK, were you able to find the battery on the motherboard. Usually they look like watch batteries a little bit bigger than a nickel.
When you find it pull the power cord out, then CAREFULLY remove the battery. Usually I use a small flat head to push the clips aside so that it pops out.
Once it's out just press and hold down the power button to help clear any juice left. Wait about 3 minutes and put everything back. This will set the bios back to all the default settings.

no pins near the battery, 2 sets of three pins-one near cpu cable, one near fan plug- none with a jumper?
Power up has changed some- it now does not keep trying
to power up when power button is pushed. The fans run
about one second each time power button is pushed, than shuts down.
The mother board is an ASUSTeK P4G533LA. jjerol
