The order of operations of math is:
1. Parentheses
2. Exponents
3. Multiplication and Division
4. Addition and Subtraction

So for the problem you posted:
1. Remove the parentheses. The minus signs of -(-6) cancel and can be rewritten as +6. So the problem can be rewritten as 66+6x6+6.
2. Solve the 6x6 part first. Now the problem is 66+36+6,
3. Solve the arithmetic from left to right.

Therefore, the answer to your problem is 108.

I bought a Singer 328K at a second hand shop. I cleaned and oiled it but the motor just hums and runs very slowly. I think the belt may need tightened or replaced. Is it possible to do it myself and...

The Singer 328K "style-o-matic" is a Class 66 sewing machine with a solid handwheel. Like the 328, and most style 66 machines, this one takes Singer Motor Belt # 193077. Any singer vendor should be able to help you and as of this writing (2010) the part runs around $10. In case you have a parts machine around or find vendors less knowledgeable here are some other machines using the same belt: Pfaff 330 Series Singer 127 Singer 128 Singer 15-88 Singer 15-90 Singer 15-91 Singer 185 Singer 185K3 Singer 206 Singer 206K Singer 223 Singer 27 Vibrating Shuttle Singer 306K Singer 306W Singer 319K Singer 327K Singer 327K Singer 328K Style-O-Matic (YOURS) Singer 329K Singer 66 Singer 66-1 Singer 66-14 Singer 66-16 Singer 66-18 Singer 66-24 Singer 66-4 Singer 66-6 Singer 66-8 Singer 99 Class Singer 99-13 Singer 99-31 Singer 99K
