I have a pair of HLH 2 way speakers model AV 3000. Both the tweeters stopped working at the same time but they are not blown. I removed them and put them in a pair of working speakers and they did not work their either. The working pair was a different brand does that matter? Is there a way to fix them or do I need to replace them? Why would both tweeters go out at the same time?
Hi, have u first disconnected the tweeters and then checked, as if its on a cross over, the tweeter is in series with a capacitor,if u have a ohms meter or a continuety tester check the tweeter coil if its open, secondly you can have the coil replaced, check if u can get one before buying a new,let me know
hi, just put the probes of the meter on the two terminals of the tweeter and see if u can get a continutey, or some resistance, if it dows not than the coil is open.. . the coil as u know is in the center of the spider or the cone.u.... cannot see it.let me know
hi, bad luck buddy, they r out. see if u can get it re-coned from a speaker repair shop, some tweeters can be recoiled, depends what type of coil u have??or new ones buddy..

I did disconnect the tweeters and checked them directly with the speaker wire and got no sound is that what you meant? I can probably borrow a ohm meter from the physics department here so when I do were is the tweeter coil located and how do I check it?
k I checked it and got no resistance from the tweeter.
k that is what I figured. Thank You
