Karcher Power Washer Problem

We have a Karcher Power Washer - Gas Unit - M # HD3101DR
Unit will not build up pressure to hose.
1- Clean all filters
2- Clean parts
3- Trying to find the Bypass for this unit. People have said bypass can be the problem, but where is it?

Thanx,
Maddog

We have used our karcher power washer twice. Stored it for a year and when we got it out to use it will not spray. Everything runs and we get no water. I have just left it sit can't afford to take it to the shop. I am able to fix if I knew where to start.

Took it all apart and cannot get the valve to come out of the cylinder, it will not just pop out. I can turn it and push it in but I cannot pull it out. Karcher sucks.

I had the same problem with my Karcher. The recall was lifted Aug. 0f 2007. Tried numerous people at Karcher....head of Customer Service, vice president, etc. No one returns telephone calls not even cutomer service....poor, very poor customer service. Thinking about calling Germany.

I had same problem won't build pressure. go to http://www.wmpcs.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=14 and see diagram. I pulled white plastic cover off top of pump (2 torx screws), remove main pump from gas motor otherwise you wont be able to get at the valve below. The important part is the valve below the the white plastic piece, it has a raised slot and mine was stuck in there. I used needle nose pinched together with pliers to lift it straight up. After wd40 and cleaning the hole and valve it should pop in and out easy. Put everything back mine worked like a charm after that. So at least I know what the problem is. Great powerwasher-I use for house painting part time and love it.

Unloader valve is the problem, remove it and grease it with silicone grease

Can't find a new pump for my Karcher pressure washer

This is a rounded square. As long as the bolts are in the right place. The flange is just a mounting to connect engine to the pump drive.

Or phone Karcher and query it. They are a good company to deal with and friendly on the phone.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly/
First off, remove the water supply hose from the power washer and locate the in line filter. Most of them are a plastic screen stuffed into the plumbing just behind the hose washer. Others have a short stand off and the filter / screen may be where the stand off attaches to the pressure washer. Others units have in in line sump that usually has a blue or red cap that you remove to clean the sump. Find the filtering mechanism(s) and clean it.
After doing this... attach the water hose loose to the power washer and turn on the water supply hose. Wait for all of the air to purge from the water supply hose. Then tighten the water supply hose. After that... Squeeze the wand trigger until all the air purges out of the high pressure hose and you get a solid stream of water with the unit off. Once you get a solid stream of water with the unit off... power the unit up and see if the high pressure hose becomes rigid / charges with high pressure. Next.... cycle the wand trigger 1 second on... and then wait for the hose to charge again. Do this multiple times. What your doing is forcing the un-loader / relief valve to stroke in the pump. Until the un-loader valve stokes un-restricted; you will have pressure problems. Next after the hose is fully charged... cycle the wand trigger very rapidly until you get high pressure each time you cycle the wand trigger. At this point your done and can proceed with patio cleaning.

Should this NOT resolve your problem.... get as much water out if it as you possibly can and pour a few ounces of engine oil into the water inlet. (Easier said than done... but you have to get oil into the pump and then let it sit over night. once you have oil in the pump pull the recoil 2 times with the ignition off just to force oil through the pump)
The next day you go through the same routine as stated above. This brings about 80% of the stubborn ones back to life again. Should it still be fussy after doing all of the above... you will have to replace the unload-er valve. If you removed the un-loader valve for any reason... you must clean out the pump housing and lubricate it and the un-loader valve with white grease (<-Available at any automotive parts source) BEFORE reinserting either the old one or a replacement un-loader valve. If you attempt to use the old one with lubrication.. make sure to remove any debris from the springs and wipe the seals clean with a PAPER towel before lubrication.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Hello, check the hose connection on the pump. There is generally a screen there to prevent dirt from entering the pump. Clean off this screen and all should be well.

Karcher Power Washer that surges up and down with water pressure.

Before you start it up:
1. Disconnect the high pressure hose 2. Connect the water supply and turn on 3. Make sure water is flowing through the pump
Start the motor, run for about 10 seconds and then turn off.
Turn off the water supply, connect the high pressure hose, turn water back on, start the motor and away you go.

Karcher HD 655 S Does not come up to full pressure

yes...check the check valve. A one-way directional valve, this part is also known as a DUMP valve. It opens when too much pressure builds in the hand wand (when not spraying water) in order to protect the pump, by returning the high pressure to its source reservoir. I suspect the DUMP valve is stuck in open condition (or nearly open).
