Answering machine replay is garbled

This is a 7 year old set that seems to be working well in all aspects. However, replayed messages from the answering machine are muffled. It is very difficult to make out what the called said. What is the fix? The handset battery has never been changed and indicator shows full charge. I am not sure if the handset battery impacts the answering machine at all. Any help will be appreciated.

Your handset battery will have no effect on the answering machine audio, providing your regular audio is fine (its fine when you make a phone call right?), I will assume yes. I have seen this problem in these models, and your problem lies in your base station, and the only fix you can attempt is to go into base programming and delete as much as you can out of the memory, greetings, old messages, etc.. Power down, then power back up again. Call in and leave a message. See if it sounds better through the handset or the speaker on the base when you play it back. If its garbled both ways (reviewing through the handset or on the speaker base) , then your problem is in your base memory. If it is just garbled on your handset, then it may be a radio module problem with the base, either way it probably needs to go in for repair. I don't know if Panasonic still repairs that model, but if you google Panasonic cordless telephone repair, you will find someone. Good Luck, CG

Can not replay message

If you are at the machine and know which box the message is in, press and hold the button for the mailbox. The machine will then play old messages.

Answering system question

I believe the procedure is supposed to be this:

Dial the phone and wait for the outgoing message.

During the message, enter your three digit security code. If you haven't changed it, the factory default code is 123. That should put you in charge of the answering machine functions through the keypad of the phone you are calling in from.

You may need to write up a "cheat sheet" to remember what buttons do what answering machine functions. I think the controls should work the same as the labeled functions on the handsets that came with the 28112EE2 phone system. That is, 1 replays the message, 2 is the play/stop button, 3 skips ahead, etc.

Erasing messages

Hi. I think you have to wait until more calls come in. If you did not save original message(s), then these will then go away FOREVER.
