I have a HP CP1700 inkjet printer. The LCD display on the printer indicated that I needed to replace the magenta and yellow ink cartridges so I bought 2 each of the yellow and magenta ink cartridges. I switched out the old ones with the new ones but my LCD display still insists that the yellow and magenta ink cartridges need to be replaced and I can't use this printer unless it acknowledges that the cartridges have been replaced. What can I do to fix this problem?

26.001 error hp 4000

26.0:01 is a bad contact in the Ink Supply System for the yellow ink cartridge. (This can be caused by using non HP OEM ink)

Check that the ISS to Cartridge cable is not damaged and is fully connected to the Ink Supply Tubes PCA.
You can also try switching the magenta contacts with the yellow contacts and see if the problem stays with the yellow, or you now have a magenta problem.
If the problem stays with the yellow, then you will need to replace the Ink Supply Tubes and Trailing Cable.
If the problem moves to the magenta, then you just need to repair or replace the contacts (may just need cleaned)

Good luck !

(My money is on bad compatible or refilled yellow ink cartridges)

How do I check my ink levels

Method one: Check the ink levels from the idle screen on the color graphics display Look for four icons at the bottom of the color graphics display. The icons represent the ink level remaining in each of the four color ink cartridges: black, yellow, light cyan (blue), and light magenta (pink). A larger and more accurate view of the ink levels can be displayed from the Setup menu. If an ink cartridge containing non-HP ink is being used, a question mark displays instead of the ink drop in the icon for that cartridge. The HP All-in-One cannot detect the amount of ink remaining in ink cartridges that contain non-HP ink. Figure 1: Non-HP ink iconc00841629.jpg NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. Printer service or repairs required as a result of printer failure or damage attributable to the use of non-HP ink will not be covered under warranty. If a hollow ink drop icon displays, the ink cartridge represented by that color icon has very little ink remaining and will need to be changed soon. You might be able to continue printing for a short period of time with ink remaining in the print head assembly. Replace the ink cartridge when the Replace Soon warning message displays on the color graphics display. Figure 2: Low ink level iconc00841630.jpg When the Empty Ink message appears on the color graphics display, the indicated ink cartridge is out of ink. Replace the indicated ink cartridge. Method two: Check ink levels from the Windows computer The estimated amount of ink remaining in the ink cartridges can be checked from the computer. See the on-screen HP Director Help for information on checking the ink levels from the Printer
  1. Open the printer Toolbox. To do so, do one of the following:
    • Open HP Solution Center, click the Settings menu, then point to Print Settings , then click Printer Toolbox .
    • Right-click the HP Digital Imaging Monitor in the tray, then point to your printer model name, and click Display Printer Toolbox .
    The Toolbox opens.
  2. Click the Estimated Ink Level tab. The estimated ink level gauges display.
Method three: Check ink levels from the Setup menu
  1. Press Setup on the printer control panel.
  2. Scroll down and select Display Ink Gauge . The Ink Gauge status from the Tools menu will only display on the color graphics display.

I get the message that the yellow ink cartridge on my HP business inkjet 1000 has expired. I installed a new one and it still is locked up.

Unplug the printer and then plug it back in, did you take off the plastic on the new printer cartridge before you installed it.?

Is it possible to use non HP ink in ths printer? Tried using "remanufactured ink", and concluded that this printer may be programed to block the use of NON HP INK.

It is always recommended to use genuine HP cartridges.
As if we will use the non HP or refilled cartridges, it will reduce the life of the printer.
And we will get an error "cartridge problem".
Plaese use the below cartridges, which are compatible with this printer.
HP 02 Black 660 pages
HP 02 Black Twin Pack 1320 pages
HP 02 Color Combo See single 02 inks
HP 02 Cyan 400 pages
HP 02 Light Cyan 240 photos
HP 02 Light Magenta 240 photos
HP 02 Magenta 370 pages
HP 02 Photo Value Pack 150 photos
HP 02 Yellow 500 pages
HP 02XL Cyan 600 pages
HP 02XL Magenta 555 pages
HP 02XL Yellow 750 pages

HP Photosmart 3210xi - some colors (magentas) will not print

Remove the magenta cartridge, and try cleaning the head with alcohol, maybe with a small paint brush or an acid brush. It sounds like ink has dried and plugged up that head.

Photosmart C5280. Instructions on photo cartridge 348 say remove both black and colour cartridges, then install photo cartridge in right hand cartridge holder. Printer screen then tells me to install...

Your printer uses the following cartridges:

HP 74 - Black ink
HP 75 - Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink
HP 99 - Photo Black, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta

You need Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta to print photos. To accomplish this you install the HP 99 photo cartridge where your HP 74 black cartridge usually goes and you keep the HP 75 color cartridge where it's at. I don't know why your printer told you to remove both cartridges, then reinstall the HP 75 color cartridge.
