will it close with out a tape in. if its not doing it with the tape in there is a motor that pulls down something cannot remember its name. so when the deck goes in it can lock in place and hit the switch. if the switch has been damaged it will just eject the deck again. has one swith to say tape in and other switch is for table loaded. sounds like the loaded one is at fault. happens if you leave a tape in for a long time and not been used.
big problem with sony as you can see im a pro tech but had the same fault with mine. and it broke my heart 4 weeks old and sony dont give a dam ironicly a mate told me slam my fist under the bottom and it will close after hrs of trying to fix it i took his stupid advice and after many hits it closed and worked great for a few weeks
1. Open the tape cover fully until it clicks open. 2. Turn the camcorder on to "VCR Mode." 3. With the cover still open and the camera in "VCR mode," take out the battery. 4. Put the battery back in--out should pop your tape.
The tape transport mechanism cannot fully engage the tape to the head. When a tape is inserted, the tape guides have to pull the tape from the cartridge and send it towards the head. There is a sensor in the carriage that activates the transport to perform its' job. When that sensor is not enable, it will just allow the door to close and the tape guides will remain stationary.
Basically, it needs to be taken apart and fixed or realigned.
I had a similar issue where the tape bay would not lock in and engage the motor mechanism to load the tape. I removed the battery from the unit and let it stand for approximately a minute then reinserted the battery. The tape drawer closed first without a tape then reopened with no issue. I then inserted a new tape with no issue. I guess it needed a hard reboot.
Loading unit problem is a common mechanical problem in camcorders. To remedy the problem, trained tech need to disassemble the mechanical system around the loading and replace few broken gears (plastics) and adjust it. Repair cost may run close to half of the new camcorder. If you really got to repair this camera for some sentimental reason or for special needs otherwise better to invest the repair charge into a new camcorder.
You write so little it's hard to tell what your problem is...
Won't the tape door close?
could you have the hinges reversed or something? Can you push them back the right way and then try and close it?
Try loading a fully charged battery into it, or plug it into the wall AC.
