I forgot to place my coffee filter back in the coffee maker

This morning I was in the process of washing the coffee maker pot and filter. I placed the filter on the counter and went to check on the kids. Well I completely forgot that I hadn't placed the basket filter back into the coffee maker and moved forward with placing the grinded beans in the coffee maker without the basket. I added my water and starting brewing! When I went to the sink I had realized that the basket wasn't in the coffee maker. When I opened the top I had water and grinds floating everywhere. Any ideas on how I can clean up my mess without ruining the coffee maker??? Today is not a smooth day at all and it's very early yet!

I have removed all the water already. I'm not sure how to go
about removing the rest of the coffee grinds and don't want to do
    anything else wrong.

Thanks so much for the help! With having a 2 yr old and a 2
month old I had to send my 18 yr old to Starbucks. I wouldn't be
    able to survive without coffee!!

I also forgot to place the coffee filter in the coffee maker, but now the coffee maker just spews steam from the top of the machine, with only about 1 cup of coffee. Any ideas?

I've already tried the "self - clean" feature, and also changed the water filter. Cleaned as much grit out as I can with tap water.

Just an idea, but you could use a turkey baster to remove some of the water first. I doubt if you've harmed the coffee maker.

As long as you unplug the machine first, you should be fine rinsing the water chamber and filter basket holder out in the sink. You'll have to drain it well and let it dry before using it again. I feel for you not having coffee right now...

SOURCE: Filter Basket pops open while grinding and brewing

Clean all the moving parts with a kitchen grade cleaner and then flush with water and air. The mechanism gets gummed up with coffee and gooey liquid over time.

SOURCE: jammed brewing unit

Remove the brew unit and check the screen under the red o-ring, find the 2 screws above the top piston and make sure the chamber that leads out to the tube is clear.

SOURCE: Filter basket pops open after grinding GROUNDS AND WATER EVERYWHERE!!!!

I had that problem a few times. When the door is open and the basket is removed I pushed in and held the release button while I cleaned that little hook area that holds the pop out tray in place. I just used a paper towel and nicely warm water. Works fine afterwords. I try to clean this at least every week.

SOURCE: Filter basket opening during brewing

Push the permanent filter's basket handle all the way down and then reclose the filter basket drawer lid. There is a pretty flimsy piece of plastic holding it in, though - may require replacement.

Why won't the hot water empty into the coffee pot?

Make sure your caraffe has its lid on , and check the bottom of the filter. it usually has a valve preventing coffee from leaking when you remove the caraffe. the lid pushes the valve back open when you place the caraffe back into the machine.

How do I stop the oily residue in my brewd cup of coffee? The coffee maker is new. The residue is not from our filtered water.

Thoroughly wash the pot and the basket with a good oil/grease remover (detergent) such as DAWN dishwashing liquid.

Then run White Vineger/Water (50/50) mix through the coffee maker TWICE, with the basket and pot in place. (NO coffee, nothing in the basket)

DO NOT RUN any detergent or soap through the coffeemaker at any time.

Then, run straight water through the coffee maker TWICE (no coffee, basket empty)

Then wash the pot and basket out AGAIN with a good detergent.

This will remove any residue that is in the coffeeemaker from the factory.

As coffee brews, there IS a slight amount of oil that is produced. The coffee itself has oils in it, and is part of its flavor, and freshly brewed coffee will have a slight oil residue.

I have a Black 4 cup Mr Coffee with luminate lighting and time display programer so that I can have coffee brewed in the morning when I get up for work at 4:30am my problem is the coffee pot has started...

I had a black and decker coffee pot do same thing and it was brand new. here is how I fixed it.
make sure the filter seated down good. If you look at the top of the coffee pot it should open up the little valve of the coffee filter holder. also mine had a little water spout above the coffee filter that swings over the filter. make sure it is over the filter. I know my coffee pot is different, but I think the problem is the opening from filter to coffee pot is not open some how so the water is flooding over the filter and going out the sides onto counter
hope this helps

My tim hortons coffee maker is not brewing as quickly..s there a wayto clean it

Make a 1/2 pot 50/50 mixture of cold water and white vinegar then run it through the machine in normal brewing fashion. Place a clean filter in the brewing cup to catch the white deposits that are removed. Allow the mixture to cool, then repeat the process several times while using the same filter. Finally, run several pots of fresh water through to work out the taste of the vinegar. Repeat whenever the brewing time seems to be excessive.

Self cleaning the quisinart coffee maker

I always use a mixture of 50:50 of cold water and white vinegar to help clean the internal parts of any minerals and scaling.

Unplug the coffee maker first, then add the water/vinegar mix to the reservoir.

Place a new, clean paper filter in the basket to help catch any deposits that will be dislodged and cleaned from the coffee maker.

As far as having the coffee pot dry, there is no need for that. I do tend to wait about 15 minutes to let the cleaning mixture disolve any deposits in the main water reservoir and then I turn on the coffee maker and let it process the water/vinegar solution through it.

Once it's done, turn off the coffee maker and discard the solution in the pot. And rinse out the coffee pot/carafe with clean, fresh cold water. Remove and throw away the used paper filter element andrinse out the basket with warm water and put it back on the unit.

Now fill the coffee pot/carafe with fresh, clean water and pour that into the coffee maker's water reservoir. Put in a new, clean, paper filter and turn the unit on and run a plain pot of water. This will help to clean out any remaining residue and clear the unit of the vinegar taste and odor.

Now you're all set to start making fresh tasting coffee again. I always recommend using filtered water for the best tasting coffee, as the taste is a direct result of brewing temperature, water purity, and the coffee you use.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Our church received a Bloomfield Koffee King model 8571 and no instructions on how to set up and use the coffee machine.

Hi, Get 2 pots place one under the spray head with the filter cone in....now fill the other coffee pot and start to pour water through the lid top front...keep pouring water through (about two and a half pots) until water starts to pour through the cone....now the tank is full plug her in and turn on the power switch at the back and also the front if there is one....place filter in cone..put coffee in filter...pot on burner...wait about 25 minutes until water in tank is hot...when light on front comes on pour another pot of cold water through the top and you will get a pot of hot coffee in bottom....I also think this machine can be hard wired into water main....get plummer to hook up...follow same procedure but instead of pouring water through top for coffee..hit brew switch. if it poors too much of too little you will find a timer in the machine you can adjust to allow more or less water...hope this helps.

Cuisinart grind and brew

This happens when the machine needs cleaned. Fill coffee maker with white vineger instead of water. Turn grind off, make sure empty pot is in place. Brew a pot of hot vineger. Repeat. Brew a pot of hot water. Repeat. This process removes mineral buildups inside machine. If you have access to filtered water, start using that to brew your coffee. I do and probably do this process 1 per 6 weeks.

Braun KF 600

Hi,

I am thinking about purchasing this model; so I am very interested in your report.
We are replacing a Braun KF 145 that's about 8 yrs old.

We had a similar problem that was solved by taking care with the coffee filter basket. Always close the basket firmly in place before you place the carafe in position. The overflow problem only occurred when we placed the carafe first and then closed the filter basket.

Maybe the same mechanics apply with the KF600.
