I need my router password for my XBOX 360 and have forgoten it. How do i go about finding my password

An Xbox 360 console can connect to Xbox LIVE using your wireless network. You do, however, need to know your wireless network password.
You can find your wireless network password in the following places:

To connect your Xbox 360 gaming console to a NETGEAR router's wireless network:

1. Turn off your Xbox 360 and disconnect anything from the I/O port on the back of the console.
2. Insert your Xbox 360 wireless adapter to the I/O port as instructed by the wireless adapter manual.
3. Connect the wireless adapter cable to your Xbox 360 I/O port.
4. Flip up the network adapter's antenna.
5. Turn on your Xbox 360.
6. • If you are using an unencrypted wireless network, your Xbox should connect to it automatically and you do not need to proceed to Step 6.
   • If you are using an encrypted wireless network click the System tab, and then click Network Settings and continue with Step 6.
7. On the Network Settings page, select Edit Settings.
8. On the Edit Settings page, select your wireless settings on the Basic Settings tab.
9. On the Select Wireless Network page, select your wireless network.
10. On the WEP Network page, type your wireless network key, and then click Done.

12. On the Apply Settings page, click Test Xbox Live.
13. If this is the first time you have connected your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, you will probably be prompted to apply an update. If there are no updates, the Xbox Live Connection page shows that you're connected to Xbox Live. Press the Y button on your controller to continue.

If testing the Xbox it says DNS failed, then update your NETGEAR router firmware:

1. From your computer, open an Internet Browser and navigate to http://kb.netgear.com to download the firmware for your router.
2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
3. Click Router Upgrade on the top left pane under Maintenance, browse for the firmware downloaded and click Upload.
4. Wait for the router to reboot.

Hi. This must be the router password that xbox is trying to connect. Your home routers password is basically saved to your xbox logon credentials. If the xbox will connect to another wireless router and sees that the password he knows is not the password that was save inside the console then you will be getting that error message. Solution is type the password of your sons friends router then this will solve the issue.

Usually, you can log into your router to find the WEP and WPA password via the configuration screens. At least you can change them to something else if you don't remember your old passwords.

You have to go into the Xbox 360 network settings and locate the MAC address. It's either called MAC address or physical address. Then in your router, you have to find something called mac address filtering and add it to the list. If you don't have mac address filtering enabled, I don't see a reason why you would need to add it to your router.

192.168.1.1 Put that in your browser to access your router, the username is usually admin, and password is usually admin. Good luck!

Just to confirm you are using a wireless connection to hook up to the router? do you have the router model number? Have you configured the correct wireless settings on the 360? Your WPA code is the code you enter to use a wireless router (Wi-Fi Protected Access), it can be found by asking who ever set up your router, but if its you, look on the bottom of the router, their should be a login code and password to use on your web browser to get up your routers informtion, usually you type in 192.168.0.1 in you browers and username password are normaly admin and password, hope this helps.

you need to log in to the modem itself. Type the following in your internet explorer bar:

linksys: 192.168.1.1

dlink: 192.168.0.1

any other models, you need to look at the instruction manual to find the correct address. Once in the setup menu, look for wireless settings.

you need to set static ip's for the xbox 360 and the lan that is on the pc, easy to bride the two connections on your computer, then set static on the lan that the 360 is plugged in to, example:
360's static settings:
ip: 192.168.1.14 sub: 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 ------------------------------- computers settings:
ip 192.168.1.15 sub 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1

make sure that your modem acctually has wireless capability, enter a manuel ip address and gateway that should do it you can find out ur ip address and router settings at routerlogin.net and you should be connected to youre router if a username and password are required then there are websites conntaining all default passwords, most will be admin and password
