I have a power acoustic gothic series 1600 watt amp, it was playing fine last night and just went off, protect light on. Today i tried it, there is a very small amount of sound thru the speakers but thats all. what could my problem be?

Check the thickness of the power cable to avoid power loss.

you may have bad solder connections inside of the amp.

this is caused by inproper wiring from the speakers/subs to the amplifier.. an amp will still put out power to subs and speakers when it's wired improperly but it won't last for very long doing it... 6 months is longer than usual....

you must likey just fryed the wires, try putting in bigger fuses, and unhooking everything and re hooking it up

A 1000 WATT AMP HAS PROBABLY GONE INTO PROTECTION MODE BECAUSE YOU ARE TRYING TO RUN 1600 WATT SUBS COMBINED

check the load on you spkr and make sure you playing amp in the right mode

Not enough juice, check the power and ground connections, another possibility is to have dc in the input, try to use in line filter available from radio shack to cut the dc, also test the with one speaker at the time, you could have a bad speaker (shorted) too.

Start removing wires from the amp, one by one (except for the +12V, Ground, and remote) until the amp seems to work fine. Usually, this type of issue is due to a speaker wire shorting to something it shouldn't be touching. Check the "non-amp" end of all the wiring to make sure they are solid and correct.
