You have a problem with the carb float valve. It is no longer sealing causing fuel to continue to flow into the float bowl after it is full. It may be dirty, out of adjustment or just need to be replaced because old and worn out.

Generac gp5000 will not start. Replaced on/off switch, ignition coil, spark plug AND carb. as well as fuel line and fuel filter. I have spark but cannot get the engine to even cough.

You have spark so a quick test using starter fluid.

Remove air filter.
Spray a short bust (~1 second) of starter fluid directly into throat of carburetor.
Promptly crank engine.

If engine is not flooded and spark, timing, and compression are satisfactory, the engine will run for a couple seconds until starter fluid is exhausted.

If it fires with starter fluid it indicates no fuel is being delivered from carburetor.

If it doesnt fire, then insufficient spark, engine is flooded, insufficient compression, or timing.

My generac 2000 won't start

If it has been sitting for awhile since last used, this is a common problem. The fuel has sat and gummed up and clogged the fuel passage ways through your carburetor.
One trick to clear the passages is to try to get fuel into the generator when starting by spraying carburetor cleaner or starting fluid into the air intake of the generator. Sometimes if you can the the motor to run it will suck on the fuel line hard enough to clear out the gummed up fuel stuck in the lines. Caution: if you use starting fluid, just give it small puffs from the can. Too much can blow up the engine or flood the spark plug.

I have a 2005 Dakota that I have to replace or clean egr valve every 2-3 months. What is causing this?

It could be getting too much fuel into the engine constantly causing a flooding condition and clogging the EGR with soot. EGR is Exhaust Gasses Recirculation and exhaust is always going thru it. Check that the temp sensor is working properly for if not, will keep the engine in cold start mode causing a flooding condition if it's staying on.

Generac 4000xl runs a few minutes then acts like it's seizing up

Eeeeeeek! Thats not good! Sorta like a grinding sound? If it's under warranty take it in! Might be the "winding" where the electric is created.

This sounds like the float is sticking in the carb causing it to flood . You need to take the carb off and clean it and put a kit in adjusting the float per the instructions

I have a Generac 15000 watt portable generator. It cranks great, but will not start. The plugs are wet, doesn't seem to be getting any spark. Have replaced plugs, any suggestion.

I have solved the flooding problem . unfortanetly you must remove the carb to fix it. once you remove the carb you need to remove the fuel bowl. In the bottem of the fuel bowl there is a electronic seloniod that controols the amount of fule going to combustion. this aria had varnish and gunk built up around the plunger of the selonoid, long story short clean this out with carb and chook cleaner and put it back together. start her up and she will run like a champ.
