Bring up the menu for the tv with the remote and try to find something to the effect of resetting everything to factory default settings. If this does not rectify the problem, it probably is not worth taking in to get fixed as this can be very expensive and the tv is older anyway.
It is compatible. The yellow cable is the video portion of the input and the white is the audio portion of the input. When you do this and switch the video mode or change the channel to number 3, it should work
its an rca this is a known problem. recently on ghost story cuz owners thought house was haunted. no the tvs ir is so sensitive it will power on and change channels on its own if someone enters the room. friend probably new this was happening. there is a fix but must be authorized repair center.
Have you tried just hoooking up the DVD player by itself? Is the DVD player output setting correct? Also, make sure the "video input" is set for the correct channel that you are viewing (i.e. Channel 3).
Mine did this and I took the back off of it to remove the button panel on top of the tv. It un- snaps from the inside and pulls straight out. My channel down button was messed up but it lookd fine. It has three prongs on one side of it and two on the other. I clipped the two prong side of the switch and put it back together. Works fine now with remote. Be careful as the set picture tube holds high voltage for a long time when unpluged. Unplug overnight and then work on it.
How are you connecting up your tv? also getting new IF connector should not cost more then 100.00 at the most and thats to much .also what are you using for tuner source?you have to connect to vcr, satellite or cable box using externel jacks, use back av jacks yellow video- red&white audio, then you will be using channel 3 or 4 on tv to change channels thru your vcr, satellite,or cable box which ever one you are using for tuner. If you have it connected right your set should work.let me know if you need any more help with this.ThankYou for using FixYa and Have a Nice Day.
The easiest thing to check is if the channel up or down buttons are not pushed in too far forcing the switch to make contact all the time, the other possible reason is some of the cleaning solution or water might have gone down to the buttons and creating a short making the switch active all the time. For this reason you will need the help of a servicer to find you the parts and replace them.Let Us know if you need more information.
