Sigma card reader/writer doesn't recognize my new SD card

I have a Sigma MCR 300 USB 2.0 9 in 1 card reader/writer, and I have input a new SanDisk 2.0 GB memory card into the reader, from a new digital camera we bought. My problem is that the reader doesn't seem to recognize the card. I've tried to look for an updated driver, but the 2001 version seems to be the most recent avail. FYI...This reader doesn't have any problem reading from my former camera's compact flash card. Can you help?

Current Driver Info:
Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 7/1/2001
Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0

Current operating system: Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3

Hello,

What I suspect here is that, the USB port that you are using is a USB 1.0 port, which has a lower voltage not enough to power on your Storage drive.

In this case, there are two things you can do,

1. Change the USB port you are using for the storage drive to a USB 2.0 one (Just keep Checking all the ports one by one in case you dont know which one it is).

2. If your Storage drive has external power facility, just plug it in an external power first, before connecting it to the system.

If there are no USB 2.0 Ports on your system at all,

then just go to any electronic store and tell them you want to buy a USB 2.0 Expansion card.

and if it is a laptop, A USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

Install it on your system, and connect your external drive through it.

Hope this helps you out.

Goodluck

SD card not recognized

What happens when you tried to plug-in SD card to the computer?

Have you made any recent changes to the computer prior to the issue?

To make the SDHC be recognized by the computer, we need to ensure that the card reader works in Windows 7 first. Please check if the card reader is recognized properly by the computer and you have installed the driver for it.

Meanwhile, you can plug some other storage cards to the card reader and see how it works.

I would suggest you to refer the link below
A Secure Digital (SD) card may not be recognized on a Windows 7 based computer.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981642

Uninstall all the Generic USB drivers and reinstall.

1. Open Device Manager.

2. In "Disk Drives" dropdown, uninstall the "Generic SD/MMC USB device" drive.

3. Restart computer.

4. Insert SDHC card.

Hope this helps.

Why wont my computer recognize my sandisk memory card anymore

Sometimes it happens that your slot doesn't work you can use a another option like Olympus LS-10 digital recorder as a card reader for accessing the data. Insert the SD card in your LS-10 digital recorder then connect the recorder to the computer with a USB cord then it will show you two options for the onboard storage inherent and one for the SD-Card. Select first photoshop elements to read the card and then Windows Live photo Gallery to view and copy your photos.
If the Information helped you out then please give me some ratings. Thanks

Sigma 4in1 card reader not working

Try a different / all other USB ports on the computer, and if possible, a different computer if no USB port on your computer works with it. If it still doesn't see the drive, the drive is probably not working. If it does see the device, but is asking for drivers, provide a disk with drivers that came with the reader - or check the Sigma web site for drivers that work with you OS (Windows, Mac, etc.), download and install / extract.

If it sees the device, but doesn't see the memory card, the reader may not recognize the newer, larger capacity memory cards. SD cards are smaller than 4GB in capacity, and SDHC cards are 4GB and larger. Make sure that if you're trying to read an SDHC card that the reader SPECIFICALLY says it works with SDHC cards. Most SD readers can NOT be upgraded with firmware to be able to read SDHC cards - a new SDHC reader is required.

Good luck!

I bought a 4 gig SanDisk Adapter micro SD, micro SDHC. my Acer Aspire will not recognize the card, i've tried the switch both ways multiple times. how can i get my PC to recognize the card?

My reader will not read mine either. I use a usb key card reader. It used to read the regular old SD cards but the new HC card format wont work. This is due to UDF differences. You can try to reformat the card but then your camera or device may not recognize it anymore. good luck

Micro sdhc card reader will not recognize 8gig card

You problem is most likely to be the fact that your micro chip is a HC chip. HC chips have a new program that is not backwards compatible to regular sd host ports. This is a simple fix, however. If you don't trust downloading programs for it on the internet, just go to target or walmart and get a USB SD card reader, and a SD adapter if you don't already have one. The usb adapter should only be like $10 at most.

Pc not recognizing sandisk micro sd

The Card Reader you are using is probably not compatible with SDHC Memory Cards (High Capacity SD). You may need to get an SCHC compatible reader or check the website for your product to see if the is a driver update. You can get a new reader for about $20 bones if needed. I had the same issue.

pny does not supply card readers w/memory cards-sandisk on certain cards includes reader because file format is different on sdhc cards -try downloading direct from camera w/usb or get a card reader that absolutley supports sdhc type cards-not all readers do!

MicroSD Card not being read, SanDisk 2GB MicroSD Card

I don't think there is a problem with the card itself. The slot might be dusty. Try and blow into the slot and then blow the card itself.

you could try downloading directly from the camera, using the appropriate USB lead, if the camera can see it it should be able to download via cable.
