I have a broken screen on a sony nav-u navman gps unit. could this be repaired and what would the cost be? many thanks

I would read throught the manual see if your problem is describled
and it will tell you how to reset your nav and you could try loading the new sofware found here

any store that sells Navman GPS should be able to accept the repair. It wont be cheap though

mmm Looks like the navman severs down or theres no map card in it.

This is a fault with the internal memory chip failing. It can not be fixed and requires the unit to be sent to Navman and the chip replaced.

Return your GPS to the place of purchase and they will complete the return for you if you've had it less than a year. You will need a repair ref number from Navman before sending it back.
This would cost you if the items out of waranty.

I bought the same, but managed to download the manual from navman. Try again friend.

I have seen this with cameras, and pocket TV sets.

It is best to send the unit back for factory service. Ask for an estimate before servicing.

The parts in your GPS are not generic parts. You can buy the screen from the manufacture and find that the circuit board under it is also broken or damaged.

You may also find that the cost of the screen replacement may approach the cost of a new unit. I have seen this on many small devices. In some models the screen module comes as part of a complete matched assembly.

Hi,
I have recently acquired a Navman F20 Satnav with a broken USB port (It was rattling around inside the unit.)

I took apart the case and re-fitted the USB port with no problems at all. Just with a steady hand and a fine tipped soldering iron. I also superglued the port in place to add extra strength.

Put it all back together, and it now charges and connects to the PC exactly as it should.

So, before you throw away a sat nav with this problem, contact me and I can fix it for you, or, alternatively I will offer to buy the broken unit from you.

I'm in Australia, so if you're not you will need to go to the navman website and select your country, then find the update. The update is done through the NavDesk software I think.

Try holding down on/off button till screen clears,switch back on and it should be working normally,this worked on mine,it had picture of laptop ,navman usb cable and a red cross,hope this helps.Cheers.
