Since you have it hooked up to the stereo system, you need to go to on screen audio set up and turn off the TV built-in speakers (you will be listening the TV sound through your stereo system speakers), then go to the audio output set up and set it to 'variable' so the audio output of the TV's RCA audio out put will vary with the volume control of the TV (not all TV will alow this function), you will need to set the stereo volume to certain level (around 9~10 O'clock setting) since the sound coming from the TV will be controlled by the TV remote volume control. You can otherwise set the TV output to be at 'fixed' level, which means the sound output of the TV will not be controlled by the TV remote volume control, you will use the stereo remote volume control to adjust the sound level instead. I hope this is clear to you.

No sound - Dynex DX-L42-10A

No, I have not heard of this either. If you've checked your connections, etc and still have no sound, try to do a power cycle of the TV. Turn it off, unplug it and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Plug it back in, turn it on and restore settings to factory defaults. If you still experience issues, then you'll want to proceed with service repairs. However, depending on the repairs necessary, it may be cheaper to pursue replacement, than get it repaired.

Headphones on my dynex 42-inch tv the speakers are still on

Use the MUTE button on the remote to mute your TV speakers and then you can still use our headphones. You can continue to adjust volume with the remote and it will only affect your headphones. You may need to do this each time you turn on the TV and use headphones, but that is a small annoyance.

How do you shut off the internal speakers in Dynex 42" LCD tv?

The best solution i have found so far is to hit the mute button on the remote. It will display a small "MUTE" box in the lower left corner of the screen for a short while, but that will disappear. Another issue that makes this solution less than perfect is that you must hit the mute button every time you turn on the TV. There's got to be a better way, but I just can't find it.

Picture but no sound

First re-check your wire hook up and audio menu settings. If its under warranty then get it replaced if not the repair is an easy fix. Should be sameday return @ your local tv repair center.

Stereo/mono on iLo 42 screen tv

I have encountered the same problem. I have looked through the menu at least a hundred times to find an answer, but the only thing that I have been able to come up with is to push the MTS button on the remote.
