Did you do the self check this set should have? When you turn it on and it goes off-----On the front of the set press and hold both the MENU and INPUT OR DEVICE BUTTONS FOR AT LEAST 5 SECONDS AND THEN RELEASE BOTH BUTTONS.

The power light should blink a two digit error code--for example--two blinks, a pause, and two blinks---this is the most common error code and I can tell you exactly what is needed to fix it. I have fixed hundreds of these sets with the 2-2 error code=====98% of the time it is the same problem.

If you let me know what error code you find---I will tell you what it means and what you have to do----I hope you have the 2-2 error code.

Let me know what error code you find--it will repeat the code at least 5 times.

Thanks for using FIXYA

Just bought this used Mitsubishi WS-55809 and when I turn it on the pic. is all messed up. The write is deformed looking and all the words are repeated 3 times. I hit the back of the TV and the pic. and...

Sounds like you have some solder problems on your deflection board. If you're up for it, you could fix that yourself with some solder and a soldering iron. Just take the back off, and look for the board with 2 of these on it (numbers may be different).

Remove the board carefully noting where you unpug things (take photos if needed). Then reflow the solder joints on these parts. I hope this was of assistance, best wishes.

Protector glass on a mitsubishi 55in hdtv 1080 #ws-55315

I have the same tv and I took my clear shield off and never put it back on.  The picture is much better without it as it will reflect light and objects in the room making it difficult to see the pic clearly.  I was told by a service tech that the primary purpose of the glass or shield is to prevent damage to the screen from objects, water etc.  If you have no small children in the home you can enjoy a better pic.
