5 Short BeepsYour motherboard is complaining. Try reseating the memory and rebooting. If that doesn't help, you should consider another motherboard. You could probably get away with just replacing the CPU, but that's not too cost-effective. Its just time to upgrade!
Did this come with a recovery disc and you lost it? If it didn't come with one you may have a recovery partition that you can boot to. If there IS a recovery partition you should see a message on bootup that will tell you what button to push to startup to the recovery partition. If you DON'T have a recovery partition your only options are a clean install with a Windows installation disc or to call emachines (gateway) to see if they have a disc to send you.
You can contact them by following the instructions here:
That depends, what operating system are you using? if its vista or 7 you dont need a disk. Restart the pc and when the bios screen shows press f11 or what ever key is assigned to Recovery Console. Follow the prompts and your all done. If your using xp you may need the disk for the recovery. Have you considered doing a system restore? or is the problem to severe?
Unfortunately if you did not create the restore disks you will either need to purchase them from eMachines (usually around $30) or buy/download an operating system and install it yourself using the drivers located on the eMachines website for this model.
To do recovery without a disc you must have the recovery partion on the hard drive if you have one you can access it by taping F10 when you turn on the computer. There are two types of recovery destructive and non destructive depending upon your need you can select one.
You have to run recovery on yoru system from the rcovery discs, and if its fails then you have to run test on the harddrivefrom the bios and if you get any error than your harddrive has gone bad.
As the computer is only 2 months old, you should be able to contact Emachines and have them send you a recovery disc out for the particular model. As the computer may seem identical, in most cases a recovery disc from your computer will not work because of a different driver or some other small issue.
Hello there , let put things in order:
1) That is is your PC DISC? RESTORE CD?
2) If so, just run the Restore CDs, and use DESTRUCTIVE FORMAT/ and restore the OS from CDs and SYSTEM PARTITION. **
it is supose to work.
other than this, may be a defective hard disk, use warranty, or have to replace that hard drive. ** be sure you got a full recovery CDS.
GOOD LUCK
You can download an OEM version from bittorrent sites, and as long as you have the genuine certificate of authentication label on the pc case you can install and activate it legally. Just make sure you get the correct version to match the label, e.g Home or Professional.
Maybe you should try to do a "destructive" restore. when restoring from the recovery disc, you have the option to do a "destructive" or "none destructive" system recovery. if you choose to to non destructive recovery, then any virus that may be on your pc will not be removed and this may be the reason why your recovery always stops half way through. note that this will format the hard drive and you will loose all the files on the hard drive, including photos and documents. if this doesn't work then you should try to find out if you have a hardware problem. you can download one diagnostic software from seagate, that you burn to a cd. you use this as a boot disc, like the recovery disc, to test your hard drive, memory and motherboard to see if you need to replace any components. the most common problem is the hard drive. http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=SeaTools&vgnextoid=720bd20cacdec010VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD
