Tv brightness Well i have mitsubishi wd 52327 dlp 52 inch tv, its 2 years old and watching a hight def channel the picture has a light haze to it.I had explain the situation to a authorized mitsubishi repair shop and the said i might be the light engine is going out, what is the light engine on the tv i would like to know.

I seriously doubt it is the light engine... I've owned my exact model for 2 years and can tell you as much or more than the average tech. I own my own PC business therefore have an electronics background although there is always something someone else does through trial and error to find a more viable alternative to changing the light engine.

First, unplug the tv, then take the filter out and clean it.. blow air through the TV vent and fans. Next, remove the panel below the panel it pops off. There are 2 big steps that you need to understand what to do in order to not damage the tv... First, the lamp is removed and placed on a hard surface free of water oil dirt and certainly don't lay it on the carpet. take the canned air and blow the fan off and general cleaning area where you can reach. Next part of step is to leave this out and remove the row of screws on the bottom carefully and put them in a dish. remove the surround screws in back from the bottom to the top and across the top and back down the other side. dont' go below the screws around back that are the bottom as you don't need to disassemble the tv, just want to remove the screen for cleaning.

Once removed, there is a plug for the wired display buttons to work and interact and be careful pulling that apart. Now, slightly lift up on the screen on the sides and it should pop off. lay the screen vertically not flat on the floor. Take a dust remover like one swiffer makes that removes all dust. IF the dust is really like a film, well you can lightly spray it with eyeglass cleaner (no amonia) and clean it off with a cotton towel but remember the towel will leave lint and dust. So afterward take off the dust with the swiffer dust removing duster.

I wouldn't remove this if you aren't mechanically inclined. However, I want you to also look at the lamp as they do dim after time but it should be okay. Anyway look for darker areas in the lamp. If so replace the lamp AFTER you try the tv first to see if it is better.

I got dust in my tv the first time when workers turned on the tv while they were tiling my living room corner and sucked in dust. Since then I've performed similar cleaning on multitudes of different brands, all with similar results that you will agree is outstanding or at least 80% better.

The light engine is that part that displays the picture on the screen. its like a filmprojector. if you need the complete LE, you run in about 1200-1600 dollars.Mitsubishi DLP's are known for collecting great amounts of dust, so try to clean the filters first and remove all the dust you can find.be careful,do not use a vaccuum as they can damage the electronics and the fans.....
