Try these as I found them from Lexmark's website

Solution What you will see
The printer displays a 'Cover open, please close cover' error message, even though the cover is closed.
Possible cause of the error
This can happen if the lever on the cover open sensor is knocked off the switch assembly.
What to do
Take the following steps to try to determine if there is a hardware fault:
Steps Actions 1 Remove and replace the cartridges from the printer. 2 Disconnect the power cable and the USB cable. 3 Check that the power cable is plugged directly into a wall socket. 4 Reconnect the power cable. 5 Close the printer cover. 6 If the error persists, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further instructions.

Try looking around the edges of the cover or in the hinge area for a switch that may be stuck. Most covers have a switch to indicate that the cover is open, the cover may not be seated properly or the switch may be stuck in the open position.
