I have a IBM X3400 Server. Linux is install in this server .when I install a new hard disk in this server its not showing the space. And yellow Error light is glowing .What I can do?

Before Linux will show the new drive you have to mount the Drive so it knows what it is looking at. This should resolve the warning light issue as well. Unlike Windows most Linux Operating systems do not automatically recognize installed devices until they are mounted.

Cannot Ping using NetXtreme 1000SX on IBM x3400 w/Linux SUSE 10.1

Are you pinging from the same subnet? If not, you will need to have a default gateway. Type "ifconfig -a" to verify you configuration. Type "netstat -r" to see check the routing. And type "netstat -i" to see if there is any traffic on the interface.

Can I install Windows Server on IBM RS/6000 51A Server ?

No. The IBM has a RISC processor and Windows only supports Intel or AMD. It does support some versions of linux if you want a GUI interface. :-)

Remote access

Yes it is. You can use the vnc server and client utilities for this. Install VNC server on all the linux pcs. Then install the windows version of vnc on the pc you want to connect FROM.

Give the ip address of the linux pc you wish to connect to, and lo, you get the same desktop that is on the linux pc. Of course you can configure password protection.

Another easy but techie way to connect is with telnet or ssh command after enabling these services on the linux pc.

Deboo
