Intermittant multiple flashing!!!

Hello all,

I'm using a Metz 45 CL-1 Flash as a time marker on some video footage. I have a couple of these units working together off a common trigger.

I have one flash that occasionally will flash 2 or 3 times in quick succession (if a trigger is present). The other flashes how ever, will only flash once about every 8 seconds which is the desired output.

If anyone has had this problem or has a wiring diagram that might be useful I'd appreciate it.

Cheers,

Matt

Can I connect a METZ 45 CL-1 to my CANON D600

Yes, this is the way the flash can be used with the contemporary digital cameras. The camera has to be set to Full Manual mode (in point of the exposition), Exposure Time to 1/100 sec (or the shortest exposure that still assures full opening of the shutter). Aperture on the camera must suit the working aperture on the flash, also ISO speeds must match. The computer in the flash measures the reflected from the subject light and quenches the flash, creating the correct exposure. Mecamat sensor, having narrower reception angle and a sight, helps in achieving the correct illumination even on a relatively small subject. Sync voltage of Metz 45CL1 does not make harm to any digital camera, so you can use even the cheapest hotshoe-to-PC adapter available at many camera shops or you can buy one online. No need to spend much on sophisticated adapters.

Where will a found serial no. on metz 45 cl-1flash gun?

Raise the tiltable head the number is embossed below it(at chin side).Near hinge.
That means if you tilt flash head fully upward the number is exactly at the opposite side of Flash power calculator dial(Two inch round chart).

I am using the flash with Canon A1, some times the unit doesn't flash. On and off it flashes. What could be the problem, I replaced the camera cable as well.

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

So you replaced the cable between the camera and the flash, it could be a contacts issue (use a electrical contact cleaner) or there is a fault in the flash unit. Do you have a spare camera you can test with

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

How can I match Metz 45 CL-1 with Nikon D-80

Try to keep the Flash setting on ISO-setting of 100 constant and adjust your aperture setting on the flash..Do not try to sync with the camera settings..it will normally work...for example.if your camera setting is as this: ISO-400, shutter speed is 125 and aperture is F8, then keep the flash setting as i mentioned above.this setting in an evening environment in a hotel or party event. this may help...

Metz 45 CT 1

I had that same problem also, but mines was temporarly. Ik think the condensor inside the Metz has to regeneratie (recover) itself by using with a full charged fresh batteries. The high freq. sound is normal. (although not to loud) after a 5 MINUTES the orange bulb should light up. How more u used how better the start-up time. My old Metz start-up time was around 40 sec. and now ot is within 7 sec.
