I figured it out!!! you have to do the Scanning firstly then when you are asked to hold down the P button for 5 seconds and it turns RED immediately open the microphone whilst it is still RED and it will work (hopefully) then it will be registered with your ps3! (hopefully)

Good luck :)

Hello,

From what you say it looks like the problem lies on the Orb bluetooth headset not being in pairing mode.

Try this:

Pairing Problems:

  • If the PS3 cannot locate your headset, make sure that your headset is in pairing mode before you start scanning. The headset instructions will tell you how to set yours to pairing mode.
  • If your headset is missing from the device menu after you re-start your PS3, you will have to pair again. Many headsets will only "remember" one device at a time, so you may have to register again after using your headset with a phone.
  • If your headset appears on the Audio Device menu but is "grayed out" or not selectable, it is not connected. Make sure the headset is charged, and that it is on in standby. I should connect automatically when the Audio Device menu is selected. Tap the call button on the headset if it does not connect, or click on the Connect Bluetooth tab on screen.
  • Make sure no other Bluetooth devices are in use nearby.
Hope it helped.

How do I put the Bluetooth into dicoverable mode?

Most of them you either have to hold the main button for a certain
amount of time like 5 seconds or so, until the light blinks steadily.
Then go to your phones setup on it's bluetooth and it will let you
know to place it into discover mode, say yes and it should see
your headset, then follow your phones instruction on completing
setup.
I hope that I understood your question.

Iphone and headsets

Yes, you can pair your iPhone with any bluetooth headset. I have used many different Plantronics headsets and all have worked perfectly.
On the iPhone, go to Settings (the gears icon), click GENERAL, then Bluetooth and make sure it's switched to "On". Then, follow the pairing instructions that come with the headset.

Motorola Bluetooth HS850 Pairing Mode

This worked great for me... I got the headset in "pairing" mode by following these instructions. Then set my BB Curve 8350i to "discover" bluetooth devices. It discovered the headset and asked for a PIN number... one of the other articles I read said the pin was "0000" so I put that in and - PRESTO - it works
