Hi Averil

Get yourself a copy of the manual directly from the Philips website (look on the left of the screen for all the relevant links)

Your CD recorder has a 2 pairs of phono (rca) sockets on the back.

Connect your keyboard's output (line out ideally or headphones if there isn't a line-out) to the inputs on the back of your CD recorder. And connect the outputs from the CD recorder to your amplifier. If you don't have an amp, you can plug headphones into the CD recorder so you can hear what you're playing.

Good luck! Let me know how you get on with it.

Philips CDR796 not recording

Owner's Manual and Service Manual in the link. Old machine, has to be CDR(W)

Insert a CDR(W) which is absolutely free of scratches and
dust particles in the CD recorder tray.

Hi have just bought this used item ,no manual unfortunately, but have tried 2 diff.CDR recordable discs & all i get after reading is,wrong disc & use audio cd, hope you can shed some...

There are 2 types of recorders. Professional, which you can use any kinds of cdr blanks and the Consumer, which requires to use
"Audio or Music only" discs and harder to obtain locally nowadays, but probably plenty on line.

I have a Marantz CDR 615 and it won't let me record anything-any help would begreat thanks

What kind of error are you getting? Does it attempt to calibrate then display the entire disc as being full? If that try a blank that will tolerate recording at the 1x speed. Nowadays the only thing you will likely find are discs meant for audio recording or data discs that can record at speeds as low as 1x. If you can find some of the earlier kodak, Ampex/Quantegy, japanese maxells, etc then you will be okay. Also it may not be obvious but the cdr 615/620 will not record on cd-rw's
I bought one of those new and had nothing but trouble out of the phillips cdd2000 module that had to be replaced 3 times (3rd time at my expense of $300) but Superscope in Aurora, IL was good about support. Ironically I seam to remember a class action suit against Phillips over their very flaky cdd2000 drives.

Disc reading

How confident are you at opening it up? And where are you? If it can get table of contents info it could be gummed up grease on the laser sled.

Recording

Both previous suggestions are wrong. Your machine displays 'wrong disc' as you are trying to use a computer grade CDR, this machine needs a 'consumer audio' grade cdr that are more expensive. Google the manual, it explains further.
