Hi,
According to the symptom the problem seems that the high voltage cap is loose and not plugged properly. For your convenience see the below pic and reset it. The number 11 is the target component in pic. Hope this will solve your problem.

You have a vert sweep problem and unless you know how to trouble shoot this cuircit bring it to a pro. I found out mostly in these sets that the vert output IC is bad.. Also sometimes the b+ filter cap off the fly is leaky and made the IC to fail. Another thing is Im surprised to hear you got a pic with the vert failure and a bright line in the pic!! This could be a big problem when the sets fixed so dont run it too long like this. It could burn a line all the way across the screen and you will see a dark faint line in your pic because of this. BE CAREFULL!!

Hello maymet,

This sounds like the HV protection circuit is cutting off the TV due to a high current event in the set. This could be a problem in the High Voltage section of your TV (Horizontal output transistor, Integrated High Voltage Transformer, and y of the deflection components, and or the CRT in cases of shorts).

I would suggest that if you do not have a background in electronics, you should have an experienced TV technician troubleshoot and repair this problem.
This is due to the nature of the dangerous voltages that are present in the television.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

SOURCE: Sony KV-32FS13:Pictured slightly bowed down at sides

Your symptoms sound like you have a problem in the pincushion circuit.
I would recommend you have a technician take a look at this, as this can be a tricky circuit to trouble shoot.

SOURCE: My sony kv-36xbr450 quit responding to the remote

it is most likely the remote receiver inside the tv. you can verify this by using a universal remote. if you cant get it to work the receiver is bad.

Sony code 5 ?

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

Poor contrast and picture disappears in Vivid and Pro screen modes.
Problem was resolved by replacing C210. The capacitor was breaking down under
operation. Important note: capacitors C257 and C248 are in parallel with C210 and similar

one of these three capacitors could cause an identical symptom.

Sounds like the PIP feature is causing the problem with the TV if you are connected directly to cable TV without a box inline and getting these issues.

KV-34HS420-Sony Tv

well based on ur info, ur tv has a prolem in power supply section, particularly regulation circuit. the regulator of the circuit seems to be mulfunctioning thats why insufficient voltage is coming out from B+ which in turn goes to high voltage circuits thats why the produced picture is insufficient. if this is very technical to u, have it check with a qualified technician.
