The mouse on my Acer Aspire 300 laptop has stopped working

The mouse on my Acer Aspire 300 laptop has for some reason stopped working. I can't click or move the arrow at all. I went to the control panel to see what I could do to fix it and that did not work. It says its working fine, what's the problem?

Touch pad and mouse butons don't work at all.

On laptops, sometimes your TouchPad is disabled for no apparent reason. To reactivate it, first try restarting your PC. If there’s no good change just try:

We need the software driver and your mouse are installed

This trick works in Windows XP and Vista
Go to Control Panel> Mouse> Settings tab of the device
Click <Enable> (or <Disable> to disable)

Please go through this image, will help you..

Notes:
On some models, there is a keyboard shortcut to activate or deactivate the touchpad. For example, a ACER, just do Fn + F7.
You can click Reset device if neither of those solutions will work. ..

Please revert for further clarification....

Acer Aspire 3004 - Random reboots; random mouse program select w/o mouse click

the rebooting could well be a driver error, and you pc is set to reboot instead of stopping and showing the code numbers on a blue screen togive any clues, but it sounds as if it could be the touchpad driver. Go to my computer icon, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager and look down the list for mice and other pointing devices and click the '+' sign and it will probably read synaptics touchpad, right click on it and select uninstal. Restart your notebook and the touchpad will be installed automatically and should, if the driver is not corrupt perform as normal.
