Yesterday it worked fine but this morning when I tried to play an artist the list had 5 things and all said "nothing". I went to my album list and I can play a song from there but when I went back to artist it had the album I had just played listed all 5 times. Everything else works fine. What can I do to fix this? Also when I plug the USB in it had previously let me open a file that listed all the songs I had imported. Last time I plugged my USB in it brought up the Sansa file & only had the 5 albums listed that had been predownloaded on the device by the company. I tried opening it up from different files, all bringing up the same thing. How do I get to my song list?
It sounsd like you are having a firmware issue..What I would recommend you to do is to update the firmware that is on your device..and that should solve the problems you are having..I hope this helps

After you select "All Songs" you're saying that it simply shows the previous song that was played and starts that one right?
A couple of things, normally the unit doesn't play anything by default when turned on. Usually it will allow you to select from the menu and if you don't make a selection at this point and attempt to back up, sometimes it will start playing the last song used.
Here's a couple of work arounds, first, you can try to use the smaller silver button (above left of large dial), press it and move the menu back to your options or choices such as Artists, Playlists, etc. and select something different that way (this is while the current song is playing).
Another possible solution is to select from the menu either "Artists" or "Browser" and choose another file.
This unit can demonstrate weird behavior at times and like anything else, the more you mess around with it, the more you'll figure out its quirks.
In the music menu, there is an option to search by Artist or Album as long as you have at least one song on the player that has an ID3 tag that lists the song's artist or album. Those are the only way of organizing the songs on this particular player.
the only thing you can try is to reinstall the latest firmware as this get rid of alot of the problems they was having you might lose all your stuff you have put on their but at least you will get it working properly again ok follow these instructions 1 with mp3 off swith lock/hold button to on position 2 hold down rec button on left hand side keep holding it down 3 now switch mp3 on whilst still holding down rec button 4 it should now say recovery mode dont connect to computer yet but goto sandisk website and download the latest firmware onto your computer then open this file it will then take you through the process of updating the latest firmware ok
It's possible you are reaching the 99 folder limit of the deck. Count how many folders (artist folders and album folders) there are between Alkaline Trio through John Butler Trio. The manual says there is a maximum of 99 folders acceptable, but it doesn't say what happens if you have more. I also assume the bitrate of the songs is 320kpbs or below, yes? The manual also mentions "Folder hierarchy is allowed up to eight tiers. However, practical hierarchy of folder is less than two tiers", whatever that might mean.
In the cd's the artist isn't named and if you want the artists names you need to right click with your'e mouse and click rename, type the title and then the artist.
Ok I'm not sure about this one, but try and find out if the playlist are protected cos if they are it wont show up on your player. other wise contact samsung for support (www.samsung.com)
it says "unknown", not nothing
