The volume control pot can be replaced.

Any good quality audio shop or electronics repair shop should be able to fix this.

My Velodyne DPS-10 subwoofer hums when you plug in the RCA cable. The hum increases in volume when you touch the rear metal panel.

hi,
You have to check the RCA cable to the sub woofer. The RCA cabe have two connections inside it, one is for gain and the other is for ground sheild. If the ground sheild is broken then there will be hum from the sub woofer and it will increase if you touch the ground (rear metal pannel is connected to the ground). Replace the cable and check it again.

YAMAHA AV receiver RX-V861 I have the message 'Vol-fix' appearing on Zone 2 and no sound. This was working fine until then

Setting the RX-V861 remote control to operate Zone 2:
  1. Using a ballpoint pen or similar object and press the [CODE SET] button RX-V861 remote control. The[TRANSMIT INDICATOR]on the remote should flash twice.
  2. Using the [NUMERICAL KEY PAD] on the remote and key in 9992, the [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] should flash.
Assigning the receivers internal amp for Zone 2:
  1. Set the remote control selector to [AMP]. (Located to the right of the volume buttons on the Remote.).
  2. Press the [SET MENU]button on the remote control.
  3. Arrow down to Manual Setup and press the Enter button on the remote control.
  4. Arrow to the [SOUND MENU] option and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  5. Arrow to Speaker Set and press the [ENTER] button on the remote control.
  6. Arrow to the EXTRA SP ASSIGN and select ZONE2
  7. Press the [RETURN] button on the remote control to exit out and return to the Manual Setup.
NOTES: There is an option for setting the Maximum Volume and Initial Volume in the Zone Set menu.
  • Max Volume: This is an optional feature but isrecommended to prevent the accidental change in volume levels thatcould damage the speakers and receiver.
  • Initial Volume: This is also a great feature that would seamlessly start the volume level for the second or third zone at the desired level.
We do not recommend using any Speaker Selector boxes to enable more than the recommended number of speakers per terminal.
Controlling Zone 2 using the RX-V861 remote control:
  1. If the Main Zone on the receiver is on, press the [POWER BUTTON]down and while holding that button down press the [PHONO]/[**] button on the remote. The [TRANSMIT INDICATOR] will light up.
  2. You will not be able to use the following buttons on the remote: (Pressing any other button will cause the remote to exit Zone 2 mode. [POWER], [STANDBY], [VOLUME], [MUTE] and the [INPUT SELECTOR] buttons [DVD], [CD], etc.)

I hear some noise coming out from the woofer of CHT-12R

It very well could be the spaker leads hitting the speaker cone.

You could check this by removing the amp section from the back.
Remove the screws at the very edge of the amp panel.

No sound for Velodyne ct-100 sub woofer

Sounds like a dead amp. You could check the xformer output and the amp IC's with a VOM.

These amps do not cost a lot, about $40.00. and are easy to replace.

Woofer,s outer ring is ripped.

To fix this problem, you will need to contact Velodyne.
They may be able to replace the surround or recone this driver.

Because this system has the "servo" control, you need to have the accelerometer conected to the amplifier. With out it, the amplifier will not operate.

Hi I own a Technics Hi-Fi system (Model SC-EH780) and would like to attach a subwoofer to it. I cannot find the subwoofer unit that is supposed to go with this system. Can you help?

Any powered sub-woofer will work with it. Check the back of the Technics, make sure there is an RCA output labeled "Sub-woofer" or "Woofer" or "Sub". If so, you can get any brand of powered sub woofer and it will work. A powered sub-woofer is one with an amplifier for the sub built into the box and you will need to plug it into an A/C outlet as well. The only exceptions to what will work with this unit is to make sure you are not buying a sub-woofer that is made to only work with the companion unit it is originally sold with. Many Panasonic and JVC sub woofers are like this. Just look for a sub-woofer that is not part of any system. Velodyne makes some really great sub-woofers that would work nice with yours, but they can be a little expensive, but they are very good.

If your Technics has no RCA output for the sub-woofer, you will need to make sure that whatever powered sub-woofer you buy has a speaker level input for it. Most powered sub-woofers have this feature, so that you may just run the front speaker outputs of the receiver into the subwoofer and then the sub-woofer will have a set of speaker outputs right below the speaker inputs so you can still have your front speakers connected to that and not loose anything from your system.

I hope I have explained this in a manner you will understand easy, if not just post whatever questions you may have right on this thread and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

It would also be appreciated if you could rate this solution if you no longer need any help from me. If you do require more help, please wait to rate this until we are finished. That way I do not get an undeserved bad rating when we have not even finished our communications.
By the way, A "Thanks for trying" and "Helpful" rating are really not good, they always end up lowering my overall score.
